allinanchor serp predictor

owldeath2 asked 3 years ago
I’m considering buying a site off someone. It is a good domain name and the site is good quality with many many backlinks, but it ranks 450ish for the keywords it targets. With allinanchor it gets first page rankings. How accurate is allinanchor as a predictor of how the site will rank when it is no longer sandboxed? It has been in 8 months so far….

Actually if someone who is something of an expert could take a look at the site and see any potential problems/penalties etc that would prevent it ever ranking well and getting more than 100 or so visitors a day it is getting at the moment that would be v much appreciated, I can pay for that service. PM for details.:la-de-da:

You should check first how many pages the site has in the Supplementary Index.

With the new trends in Google about this topic, there are a lot of good sites in the exile.
And maybe for ever…………

but it ranks 450ish for the keywords

If it already ranks it means that it’s out of the sandbox (unless it ranks for its own name).

Interesting. I recently purchased a domain which has been registered for some years although it was parked. Pretty sure it was indexed so wonder what the effect will be.

Just noticed that there is now a site ranked higher than it for its own domain name – is that bad? It does link directly with the domain name as link text but I’ve heard this is generally not a good site, the site it links from is well known.

Emerging from the sandbox is indeed gradual, you don’t pop out one day. I’ve seen this effect across multiple industries and both old and new sites. Yes, the sandbox hits old sites too (just not as long). For a new site expect 18-24 months for moderately competitive keywords.

As for the very competitive keywords you are going for, without a ton of work, don’t ever expect to rank on the first page of Google. As I suggested before, start looking for some longer tail terms and optimizing for those, the past work will help you rank faster for longer tail keywords.

No, it’s not a good thing to be outranked for your domain name, but if the domain has general words in it (ie: online-gambling-poker-casinos.com), then it may not be a big deal. I just made that domain up, don’t know if it even exists.
