If you’re like most web publishers, you’ve spent a fair amount of time making certain that Google’s ubiquitous bots are diligently indexing each and every page you publish. After all, search engine users see exactly zero pages that aren’t indexed.
But what do you do when you go back and realize that those very same pages just aren’t getting indexed at all. It’s a scenario that might feel like the end of the world, but really isn’t as bad as you might think. One of the biggest reasons casino affiliates run into for Google dropping their indexed pages is an overabundance of duplicate content. This can be caused by a number of reasons but the most common is that you’re referring to the same pages over and over, without using canonical tags. These tags let Google bots know that there’s really only one version of each article they should be indexing.
Many publishers have also found that their sites simply aren’t loading as fast to end-users as they are to back office users. This is a significant issue as Google places a huge value on fast loading sites.
To stay ahead of this issue, web publishers may have to have a tough conversation about their current server status. If you’re server is in need of an upgrade, even just the addition of more memory, you need to take it seriously. Not only will Google ignore a slow loading page, your end users will to.
Losing indexed pages isn’t the end of the world, but if you don’t take action, it could be the end of your business.
