FanDuel and AGA team up to fight problem gambling

The American Gaming Association (AGA) and FanDuel are joining forces in a campaign aimed at promoting responsible gambling and curbing problem gambling. It’s the first time a sportsbook has worked directly with the AGA on their existing efforts to educate the American betting public.

According to a press release from the AGA, the campaign will be an extension of the group’s Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly. FanDuel’s role in the effort will come in the form of donated ad time from its considerable advertising budget. FanDuel will, essentially, be running public service announcements for the AGA on radio, TV, internet outlets, as well as in-venue advertising at stadiums.

Matt King, CEO of FanDuel Group explained the importance of working with the AGA to promote responsible gambling saying, “As the mobile gaming industry leader in the U.S., we believe promoting responsible gaming behaviors is a core tenet of growing our business and the industry as a whole. We are not only going to commit substantial FanDuel resources to promote Have a Game Plan but we intend to build a consortium of partners throughout the sports and gaming business to scale this initiative and we encourage other operators to join us.”

AGA AGA President and CEO Bill Miller was similarly enthused saying, “FanDuel’s commitment to support and grow Have a Game Plan couldn’t come at a better time. Responsibility to our customers has always been a pillar of AGA member operations. Extending this to meet the new realities of an expanded sports betting ecosystem is going to require full collaboration with everyone involved in it – gaming operators, media companies and leagues and teams. We’re excited to have a partner like FanDuel to help extend this important initiative.”

Though FanDuel is the first sports betting operator to join the AGA’s fight for responsible gambling, the effort is already supported by NASCAR, the NHL, the PGA TOUR, Monumental Sports and Entertainment and the Vegas Golden Knights.
