DraftKings Launches Pick6 DFS Product

Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) operators like DraftKings and FanDuel are pushing the limits of their market space with new products meant to mirror the experience of standard sports betting. With the recent launch of their new Pick6 peer-to-peer DFS product, DraftKings is expanding the scope of what fantasy sports looks like in America.

Pick6 is a new product for DraftKings, but is pretty similar to pick ’em-style games that are being offered by more and more DFS operators. The premise is pretty simple, players pick two to six player props and determine whether or not the players will go over or under that number. Players are pitted against as many as 150 other players and the pot is shared out between the winners.

Corey Gottlieb, DraftKings’ Chief Product Officer explained the concept in a recent press release saying, “For the past decade, DraftKings has defined innovation in fantasy sports.Pick6 is the next great example of that innovation—this is a homegrown, peer-to-peer product that taps into our customers’ desire for fun, simple-to-play experiences tied to their favorite athletes. We are excited to give our customers another way to experience live sports by competing against each other.”

While Gottlieb and other DraftKings’ executives are excited about the new product, prop-style DFS games are coming under increasing fire from gaming regulators who say they look a little too much like regular sports betting. Just how long the DFS Pick ‘Em-era lasts could be up for debate if those regulators have their way.

DraftKings’ Pick6 is available in Maryland, Minnesota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
