I would like to hear from US and Non-US members on this.

What are your thoughts on the government bailing out Wall Street at the expense of Main Street.

Are there any better plans or alternatives to get the crisis resolved?

They want the republicans to go in 50/50 so neither can use it against the other party. It’s Political.

Exactly.

Both the DEMS and the GOPs are to blame

Sure, I agree to a point, however, their careers are on the line, so Politics will ALWAYS be involved regardless of what they would like you to believe!
This still needs to get fairly close to 50%/50% for it pass.

People are very angry and rightfully so. The pain has and is on it’s way and our polititions are not going to come together for a good solution. It’s very sad! I pulled out from the stock market back in Dec 2007. Still I have two investment homes I can not give away right now. The credit market is seized up and has been since Feb 2008. It’s going to get very bad in the coming months and will take many years to recover.

Quick correction.
After seeing the actual voting results, the Republicans did not even deliver 40% as I stated earlier.

They only delivered about 30%!!
The Democrats vote was in fact about 60%, as I stated earlier.

Bi-Partisan? I don’t think so! LMAO!

McCain needs to shut down his Campaign again, try to cancel Palin’s debate this Thursday, and head back to Washington!:roflmao:

LMAOOOOO I agree.

I’m sure that he is frantically trying to think of a way to stop that debate on Thursday because Biden is going to eat the ‘pitbull in lipstick’ alive, but I don’t think even he can throw a hail mary the distance needed for that to fly. hehe

So the way I see it they do nothing, they lose. If they pass it and it flops, they lose. They have already losed for letting it get this bad (both sides) so I guess you could say their a bunch of losers. The Dems. should take a chance and pass it if they have enough votes without the Reps.

First – I don’t identify myself with either of the parties.

That said – the DEMs wanted to take over Congress and they have the responsibilty now to lead Congress. And during tought bills like this one leadership shows. What I saw is that the DEMs are no better than the GOPs.

I’m not sure one is better than the other in congress either.

I am solidly behind Obama vs. McCain though, and that isn’t really based on political affiliation.

That said, and contrary to the notion that the Dems control Congress, they really don’t.

Congress = House and Senate

The Democrats only have a one Rep advantage in the Senate.
That’s not control when most of the important Bills require a 2/3rd majority to pass a bill in the Senate.
It’s very easy for the Republicans to kill, or stall a House approved Bill.

And even if a bill makes it past both both branches, you still have a Republican President that has to sign it.

All this talk about Democratic control is overstated, IMO.
The Republicans have plenty of Control and Power too as we just witnessed today.

The Democrats got 60% of their Reps to vote FOR a Republican President’s Bill, while the Republican House Reps revolted against their Republican President, and the best interest of the country.

If they were not all up for re-election in a couple of weeks, the vote would have been about 400 “YEAS” for the bill!:roflmao:

JMO, of course, and I respect opposing views as well!

Question. Can President Bush “veto” this desicion and sign the bill WITHOUT congress or not?

I agree CPA!

I’ve NEVER ever discussed race, religion or politics until this election because I feel that we need a CHANGE.

If I thought that I could “pass” the approval process of politics then I’d run for office and get us on Trak. <span title=” title=”” class=”bbcode_smiley” /> hehe
