I would like to hear from US and Non-US members on this.

What are your thoughts on the government bailing out Wall Street at the expense of Main Street.

Are there any better plans or alternatives to get the crisis resolved?

It’s a mess.

It wouldn’t be half the mess if our national debt wasn’t so horrendous.

Maybe now people will care more about their own country and stop messing around in the rest of the world.

I can’t believe the Republicans came out and said we lost some votes because Pelosi hurt our feelings.

I’m wating to see how McCain explain how his leadership FAILED!

The House Republicans DID NOT do their part as it relates to numbers.

I did not see Nancy’s speech that they are crying like babies about, but she is on TV now.

I agree with you Dom. We certainly could use that $12 billion a month we are spending in Iraq!

MCain will find someone else to blame, probably Obama! LOL

It sounds like the Bi-Partisan agreement between the leaders was for the Republicans to bring 50% of their guys, and the Dems to bring 50% of theirs.

In the end, the Republicans only delievered 40% and the Dems exceeded their deal and got 60% to vote for it.

So the Republicans killed it because they feel like Nancy hurt their feelings!!!
How ridiculous!!!

LOL You are right CPA, McCain did that this morning (before the bill failed) in Ohio today. He was gloating about how Obama “called in”, but he was there and got the job done.

I can’t wait to watch MSNBC tonight. hehehehe

Correct me if I’am wrong but I heard from somewhere that the bill had the votes to pass without the Reps 50% . So what’s the deal here?

The_CPA answered 3 years ago
The idea here is that both sides are frightened by the POLITICAL ramifications of one side or the other passing this bill without it being TRULY Bi-Partisan.

In other words, pretty close to 50% of the Reps from each side.

So the leaders on both sides of the House promised to deliver approximately 50% of their Reps.

The Dems did their part, and delivered 60%, but the Republicans only delivered 40%.
So the answer to your question is yes, it would have made it had the Republicans gotten a bit closer to their 50% committment, but 40% was just not enough to get it done.

Because the DEMs should not be required to do this crazy bill by themselves. They want the republicans to go in 50/50 so neither can use it against the other party. It’s Political.

Both the DEMS and the GOPs are to blame, both parties played politics at a time when most unnecessary. If the DEMs were really concerned with the well-being of the American people, they would have taken the burden regardless. Same applies to the GOPs.

Well like I said before, no one could assure the American people that this was not all about Main Street so it’s the Presidents fault for not having enough trust of the people even though he used words that are never used in a public way.

It’s the lashback of the public that has them (rightfully so) unwilling to sign this bill in it’s current form.
