    Before everyone goes in panic mode remember this. Everyone chatting here has been successful by promoting casinos/poker rooms/sportsbooks etc…

    Should the bill pass you will still be as successful in the future as you have been in the past and present.

    The US has been known on many occasions to reverse decissions such as a ban on alcohol, gambling and then to open Vegas!

    Well, it’s not all the way done yet, but realistically, I think this will pass thru at this point. The Senate is waiting for the Bill to arrive from the House.

    We will have to see if they can get it enacted over the next 9 months if it does pass.
    Hopefully, they won’t, or the processors will find some work around procedures.

    That said, don’t give up the good fight.
    This definately is a political manuever, and may never get enacted.
    There is still time, and we still need to push harder for these guys to introduce regulation bills in the next session of Congress.

    The first order of business is to get the Republicans out of total control.

    Even if the Dems can just get control of the House, or the Senate in November, that will go a long ways to helping us out in the long haul.

    We need to get a fund set up to start fighting, someone with the knowledge on the “how to” should step in and get something set up, if it is a legit operation and will help get these bible thumpers out!

    Well gang, as I and others have said, it is time to diversify. Nothing lasts forever, and it has been a good run to date.

    This will pass the Senate, without doubt. Implementation of this law will be difficult, in that it will require the banking industry’s “free” participation. This could be tricky, could be challenged, etc. However, what this bill’s passage will do is as follows:

    1) We will no longer see TV ads from the big guys;

    2) I would imagine that this legislation will scare a lot (not all) of players
    from playing online, for fear of legal repurcussions;

    3) I wouldn’t be surprised to see some of the big Casino/Poker outfits
    start refusing business from U.S.;

    4) I wouldn’t be surprised to see some of the Casino/Poker outfits refusing
    to deal with American affiliates;

    Even if they cannot shut the system down (you know there will always be loopholes), they will deter things enough, to cause this industry to go into turmoil. I think turmoil, in this case, means decreased revenues. Forget about the fact that what we will be doing will be illegal………that is a whole entire issue.

    Time to get some shut-eye. C-Span ratings must have gone through the roof tonight.

    Offshore casinos, and Neteller, must be very careful how they treat their players and affiliates in America now that these bills have passed. Look at what happened in Italy. Online gambling was banned, then reinstated. If online gambling, when, online gambling is reinstated and regulated at some point in the future, the offshore companies that had screwed over American players and affiliates will not survive.

    Message: Screw us over now, we’ll screw you over later.

    This was talked about earlier, but I think it’s worth revisiting —-

    From Gambling911: http://www.gambling911.com/Port-Security-Bill-Passes-Internet-Gambling-093006.html

    Port Security Bill passes in House and Senate: Internet prohibition attached

    Despite arguments in the House that the Port Security Bill failed to address concerns over rail and mass transit security and heavy objections over including a prohibition on internet gambling, the Port Security Act was passed shortly after midnight Friday.

    While Republicans insisted the Port Security Bill should only focus on U.S. ports and not mass transit, a number of representatives in the House questioned how a provision on “internet gambling” could be added to the bill.

    The agreement, a blend of earlier measures passed by the House and Senate, would make it illegal for banks and credit card companies to make payments to online gambling sites, however, it falls short of adding clarity to a 1961 federal law banning interstate telephone betting also covers an array of online gambling.

    The House passage ensured passage in the Senate as well. Senate Republican and Democratic leaders announced it would be passed by voice vote after the House’s late-night vote.

    Of course we need to verify that what is stated above is actually correct. But if we assume it is correct, it is definitely good news that the Wire Act wasn’t amended. The part about not allowing banks and credit card companies to make payments to online gambling sites — that confuses me. I thought this was already in place? Hence we have NETeller, Firepay, etc.

    If thats all they did its not too bad , i mean most players use neteller or firepay in america , so if all there doing is banning banks and cc companies from making payments , then its not to bad

    Just added to the above Gambling911 article:

    The banking industry, which was overwhelmingly against the measure to restrict online gambling, has already stated they would not have any way of monitoring the use of electronic checks for the purposes of betting online.

    The banking sector has voiced strong opposition to provisions that require banks to block electronic funds transfers or e-check payments to online gambling sites. These provisions are essentially broad and unenforceable, the banks claim; moreover, even if it were possible to surmount technical obstacles, prospective gamblers could easily use alternative means to finance such transactions.

    Maybe this is a good thing? :dontget:

    Yeah, but wouldnt that mean it would be illegal for US banks to allow transactions to Neteller, Firepay etc. making them useless just the same as depositing at a poker room.
