So I get made redundant….get a job I think I can do good with and another bombshell drops!
Reminds me of the time when EUIGA thing hit and everyone sh!t it about travelling to the USA for CAC. Personally I was well excited to hit Vegas once again and thought chuff it its a free trip to Vegas and if I get banged up its a story to tell the kids and I lose my anal cherry!!
All joking aside, glad to see Red Flush is on the list!
I can really comment too much on this just yet, we should know more tomorrow where we can figure out what steps need to be taken. Worse case scenario, we lose our domain but we obviously have others that can be used.
I am obviously totally uneducated currently apart from what I have read prior to typing this. I will try and update as and when I can.
I like this job too! :flush:
The guys who have older domains and spent a small fortune doing seo will not be happy .

InactiveGoing to be interesting we need to wait and see what the Supreme court does. I mean come on having the ablility to take one mans “Property” electronic or otherwise, simply because it’s illegal is your jurisdiction, but maybe not others is a dangerous precidence.
For example, pornography in some areas is illegal some, but not others. now does a state like Virginia have the ability to take a porn site from a person in California where it is legal? Lets say a Dry county decides to take a website from another state because it promotes the selling and consumption of alcohal? There is a slew of implications that could spin off this. Up till now the Internet or Internets if your Ted Stevens has been for the most part translucent and neutral. This puts that on trial.
Interesting to see the outcome of this Kentucky scandle.

InactiveSome good points John.
In the meantime, it probably wouldn’t kill affiliates to set up some kind of ip ad campaign serving solution to block certain ads or links from people with a kentucky ip…
Anyone know how to set something like that up?

InactiveI would think US-based registrars would fight this HARD. It can’t be good for business to be forced to hand over domain names to the government. Who is going to register in the US if this holds up?

InactiveGood point Foots27. While we are at it. What method should us as affiliates be using to easily update our sites if we are building a new one? I’m not sure of the terminology, but a way to automatically update multiple links at one time (global find/replace) or a managment system for ads.

we probably are 2% sales for them , viagra and porn will make up for what they lose with our $7.00 a year fee lol. Reality is NOBODY cares as much as we do and that’s never going to change.

lately i am finding dreamweaver quite helpful ,can do 4000+ links in a minute or two .I didn’t realise it could do mass edit /replace til a month ago.

I get that, but why would viagra and porn continue to register with US-based registrars if there is some risk of getting your domain snatched by the government?

I agree with you, this is spreding like wild fire through domain sites and message boards and general internet discussions. It sets a dangerous precedent and people are listening. People are talking about removing regional domain names etc. out of the US.

Guestany speculation on why only 3 or 4 casinos have been confiscated so far?
and I’m guessing that the criteria is as pointed out by others … if you’re accepting US players then …
where they get off going after affiliates is beyond reason. Or have we also done away with free speech?

GuestAs for registars out of the US, well didn’t somebody point out that the ball still ends up in the states … meaning the place where all registars answer to is … in the states.
If that’s true then it really won’t matter where you registered. I mean what makes the big reistar exempt when godaddy is not? I think nothing.
If they manage to pull it off it’ll be a mass destruct weapon for them. Just take any domain that is accepting US players.

InactivePrice said. “It is imperative that all website owners promote to their visitors to contact their representatives to express their disdain for such freedom prohibiting actions.
“Americans are perilously flirting with allowing their government to dictate to them what actions they are allowed and not allowed to do on the Internet. One other country does this to its citizens, China.”
Quote from our article today.

InactiveYou know, this may end up being not such a bad thing.
It is certainly making waves well beyond our community. It is clearly overstepping boundaries, as pointed out before, we are acting like China.
The Frank bill may gain momentum…
