Does anyone have any registrars they would suggest?
Can changing registrars (specifically to another country) affect search engine rankings?
In visiting a few sites on the list I didn’t recognize by name, I stumbled across one that was just an affiliate site (appeared to be a one page site). Don’t know why it would be on the list. Perhaps they are “testing” just how wide their net can reach.

Yes, big time.
I laughed when I saw “microgaming.com” on the list. Shows you the sort of research that has gone into this – a site that doesn’t even offer Internet gambling to punters LOL. Are the politicians that are doing this really that hard up for things to do, or is it just a religious vote winning tactic?

September 23, 2008 at 10:44 am #779521AnonymousInactiveThats what they did. Just went through and seen what sites were dumb enough to keep their DNS here in America. Sites should have been long gone to another country after the Bodog fieasco. Part of its their fault.
I have a hard time seeing this fly. This should be a federal trick not a State. All they laws they State on the docket are State Laws. That could be a bad presidence for States and Muni’s trying to take international property based on local laws. Where would the carnage end? You could have the State of Minnesota trying to take over one domain name type and California going after another? Ridiculas, I doubt this would fly. The only reason the yahoos at 1st Premier got away with it was because of the coorilating patient infridgement.

Being in the US, once they have a valid court order, they can either comply or they would have to appeal the ruling in court.

I don’t believe thats the case. The DNS has to reside in US to fall under US law.
September 23, 2008 at 4:29 pm #779551LassoMemberPoint-Spreads.com has learned that Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear will be successful in stealing some but not all of the 141 online gambling domain names! Several top brands that are in jeopardy include GoldenPalace.com, WSEX.com, SportsBetting.com, FullTiltPoker.com, PokerStars.com CakePoker.com, DoylesRoom.com and several others.

Here is the complete list of domains they are attempting to seize:

I always wonder what makes people even think about this kind of crap? They don’t have anything useful to do?
September 23, 2008 at 5:21 pm #779564AnonymousInactiveThey will soooo do it…

http://www.point-spreads.com/industry/092308-luckypyramidcasino.com-seized-by-kentucky-governor-who-is-next-to-fall.htmlAs earlier predicted, the Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear has already successfully seized at least one online gambling domain name called LuckyPyramidCasino.com. A check of the WHOIS information for this domain name shows that Eric Lycan from the Commonwealth of Kentucky Justice Cabinet is the new administrative contact. The popular registrar ENOM apparently allowed the transfer of the domain name to the state of Kentucky this morning after receiving a order of seizure from a Kentucky judge.
September 23, 2008 at 6:05 pm #779573AnonymousInactivePerfect timing with the Barcelona conferences going on. Reminds me of when they arrested people befor conferences a few years back… shock and awe, no one has time to digest what is going on and people drive each other into a frenzy…
