I get that, but why would viagra and porn continue to register with US-based registrars if there is some risk of getting your domain snatched by the government?
Bottom line is the courts gave the order and registrars in USA have to comply or else get their own lawyers involved. For now i think it is matter of staying one step ahead of them .I am unsure if a Canadian company would act on a USA court order. For me my gambling sites represent about 20% of my godaddy account ,ill move these only and feel that my other sites who are nongambling are safe there.
I have been doing this affiliate business a few years now and know we are in a gray area .I am not even American and today my lawyer probably charged me $900 to talk to him on the phone lol.I think it is probably best if we all move our domains just in case this was 141 of 1 million domains they want

Inactiveimagine they want them all, they would have to pay yearly fees to lol

any speculation on why only 3 or 4 casinos have been confiscated so far?
I’m only aware of 2 domains so far:
highrollerslounge.com
luckypyramidcasino.comWhich other domains have been confiscated?

LucretiaMemberIf they manage to pull it off it’ll be a mass destruct weapon for them. Just take any domain that is accepting US players.
So all those domains must stop taking us players in the worst case?
Most of the Rivals/Micros/Topgames/RTG’s will be out of business then ?

and I’m guessing that the criteria is as pointed out by others … if you’re accepting US players then …
There’s only been 2, and it’s because they were voluntarily given up by the registrars without a fight.

Kentucky Seizes Online Gambling Domains From Dead Man
Doleplex Holdings has lost two of its online casino domain names to the state of Kentucky in a seizure. HighRollerCasino.com was transferred over to the commonwealth on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, LuckyPyramidCasino.com was taken over as well. Both are connected with Crystalisle Management Ltd and the more well known Crystal Palace Casino, which was also off line. But the group of online casinos itself were apparently shut down prior to any actions by the state of Kentucky as it appears now.
The individual who owned the said casinos is unable to fight the state of Kentucky. That’s because he is dead. Warren Cloud passed away from a sudden heart attack this summer. Real Time Gaming ran the ventures but many customers complained of not being paid.
It was unclear if another party had taken over the domain names and voluntarily turned them over to the commonwealth.
The casino group had been licensed by the Kahnawake Mohawks out of Canada. They were based out of Cypress.

InactiveSomething tells me that this isn’t going to fly. The idea that Kentucky can seize
domains from companies outside of their legal jurisdiction is an abuse of power.
It would set a dangerous prescendent where any government on any level..
could begin seizing domains that promote products or services that are
illegal in their jurisdiction. Every casino or poker room on that list should
have a lawyer in Kentucky.. because I can’t see how this order can pull
through.. if the actual owners of these domains put up some resistence.September 24, 2008 at 10:09 am #779725Anonymous
InactiveLol, I had the following host in my visitors log:

Some good points John.
In the meantime, it probably wouldn’t kill affiliates to set up some kind of ip ad campaign serving solution to block certain ads or links from people with a kentucky ip…
Anyone know how to set something like that up?
I’m using OpenX ad server. It’s an OpenSource product.

InactiveI live in a banana republic, so I’m not one to talk about stupid government actions as we have them on a daily basis.
BUT
the crap that is happening in the States is sickening.
Giving over 1 Trillion to Wall Street…..
so Bush can bail out his cronies who f**ked up the world economy while paying themselves $100 million bonuses… and then the poor US tax payers get to foot the bill.
And now some stupid little State thinks that its the moral protector of the youth ( hypocritical #$%# ) All they want is to protect their little gambling paradise which is the archaic horse racing industry… because the buggers who are loosing are the damn elected officials of the State.
The US is on a very very slippery slope and I fear Microgaming are going to say enough is enough and pull the plug on the US.
I would !! Its just not worth the CRAP AND HASSLE.
The american people think they have a say in what happens in their country. THEY DON’T.
Excuse the tone of this post but this makes me bloody mad as should it anyone who believes in freedom of choice.

InactiveThis is frigging stupid but causing apprehension nontheless. Will be making sure my registrar can give me an iron clad guarantee. Already had a big run in with harrahas and had to hand over a couple of domains.:flush:

escapeMemberIt’s obvious that no one in Government in Ky has a clue about the tubes. They’ve gone at it this way, bull in a china shop and will no doubt get a lot of spotlight and fail. it would have been a lot easier, quicker and acceptable to have all local ISPs block the sites to all Kentucky customers, and more likely to stick.

InactiveWeird . Very weird.
I can’t see how an estate/province can have jurisdiction to order this seizure to registrars located in other places.
Moniker for instance is in Florida.
Why and how, they will be enforced by the KY rules?September 24, 2008 at 1:24 pm #779753Anonymous
InactiveIt’s always for the protection of the public isn’t it!
What a joke.
