InactiveJust read the article posted by Focal.. I must admit.. I had to laugh a bit.. A big plan has been developed, lots of people meeting and discussing.. Oh what to do.. You know what.. let’s just not respond..

Nick Wood, managing director of London-based Com Laude, which holds the domain name for PokerStars, said: “We anticipated this could happen and we’ve developed an action plan which largely consists of us not responding.”

Inactivedam this sucks. Every casino accepting US is on that list it seems!
I have a feeling they are desperate and taking desperate measures against gambling sites!
Maybe the governor lost money on some casino and is trying to make revenge haha that would be funny.

This attitude sounds very familiar. Let*s cover our eyes and ears and nothing will happen. This is the exact behaviour that led to the unopposed passing of UIGEA, the seizure of Bodog’s domain and some other cock ups. If the industry doesn*t learn to fight it will be completely banned from the US sooner or later.

Inactivefabulous.com is an Australian based registrar. I’m going to move some domains to it.

I’ve been recommended these guys as a non-US domain solution (they’re french).
I’m going to be moving a few hundred domains of my own away from godaddy this week.I’m going to ask around and get a good legal opinion first. Will post about what registrar I end up going with.

InactiveDoes anyone know of a good non-U.S. registrar that has a private registration feature like Godaddy’s “Domains by Proxy” service?

InactiveThis government is unbelievable. They have no way to stick their hand in the cookie jar to make them billions of dollars, so instead they make everyone suffer?
I have worked with all types of affiliate programs not just gambling for over 6 years now and I’m really getting tired of the BS that just goes around and around and around.
Look we understand that U.S sports organizations are the key factors behind all of this and I’m no genius but put two and two together and it does not take a brain surgeon to figure out who is evolved here. Those organizations would rather you place your wagers in the states because they are all in bed together.
It makes me sick that they keep feeding everyone this bullshit like they are going to act and do something about what over a million people have been trying to change or even UNDERSTAND. What ever happen to our rights, and the rights of the citizens on the United Stats of America?
The longer they procrastinate and sweep things under the rug, they are only pushing the industry more underground. Which is NEVER going to go away.
So I say… man up and take your losses and let the U.S citizen decide how, when, and where to spend their hard earned money.

Oh, and my personal belief – affiliates have nothing to worry about.
First off.. I thought the same.. obviously not thinking it through..
then got this email

If this is the trend.. I think I may need to cancel my trip to Barcelona as I may need to change so many damn links again!

Inactive‘I thought only your host change can effect your rankings, not the changing of your registrar… ‘
It improves your ranking in the country of the registrar but doesn’t negatively affect your rankings elsewhere. I have top rankings in India but that doesn’t help… obviously if having a us registrar helps your usa rankings you will lose that boost, but it wont negatively affect rankings.
http://www.gandi.net is a registrar in france that is highly over priced. The system there is confusing but many blackhats use this registrar so they might not care about court orders.
http://www.resellerclub.com – I use these guys and they are cheap and in India. Free privacy services.
I’m surprised so many casinos are using USA registrars, but I can honestly see that as not even being taken into consideration. And like someone else said, the location of the registrar might not even matter. ICANN controls everything and they are in the states, there was a reason a while back that the government wanted to retain control over the internet in US hands.
For all we know this could be a plot to get people to fight the court order and as soon as they show up in the state they will be arrested themselves.
Long live the land of the free!

InactiveI don’t want to create a panic or worry anybody.. But while looking through the list, I find it hard to see the common issue. Most domains are casinos or pokerrooms, but microgaming.com? no gambling there. And perhaps a bigger worry gamblingboard.com is an affiliate site, ip located in canada (not sure, seems like the last update was sept 19, so perhaps it was changed recently to ca)
Still I find it hard to believe that they can attack affiliates.. This is just one stupid situation..
