CDs – lists are obtained through third party vendors and list rentals, mostly large scale media companies, and typically we don’t even see the lists – ixian – in your case your registrations was way too close to the delivery date of the CD for your claim of cross promoting. You have signed up on the 2nd of the month and then receive a CD on the 21st of the month. There is no way that we could have received your details and then delivered the CD to your door in the 3-4 week time frame (artwork/printing/mailing etc takes time – these campaigns take the marketing department months to plan). We wish we could turn around something like that but there is just no way for us to be that efficient. Thus your registration had nothing to do with the CD you received.

Any marketing company will have their physical promotions material created in bulk. So I find your excuse that it would have been impossible to create the campaign in three weeks rather insulting. The stuff has probably been sitting in a store room waiting for a new contact list to come along. I have never received any physical marketing material from you in the past. I find it very strange that soon after creating my account at Captain Cooks Casino I received the promotional material. Why was I not contacted this way before, as you correctly state that I had a previous dormant account at another casino from over a year back? Just a coincidence?

Anyway, I hope Rewards will stop this immediately. If a player isn’t tagged to an affiliate, send all the CDs in the world. But if a player is tagged to an affiliate, that player should be connected to the affiliate for life, unless another affiliate is involved, in which case the last referring affiliate gets the credit. At NO TIME should an affiliate-tagged player ever be “un-tagged.” (Unless the player and the affiliate are the same person.)

Curious on your thoughts if a affiliate tagged player signs up to another Casino in their group (not through an affiliate) are they then able to cross promote him to more casinos within the group with out the first affiliates tag, since you wanted the last affiliate to get rewarded and since he signed up to the a new casino without an affiliate tag last, then it is ok?

There are many complications and sometimes affiliates loose out, and some times operators loose out.

Ideally, the player would remain connected to the last referring affiliate, even if he registers at a different casino without using an affiliate link.

But according to Yaniv, cross promotion wouldn’t happen if the player remained active.

Furthermore active players and affiliate based players are never sent cd’s just reactivation campaigns, like scratch cards or letters offering them a bonus on their specific last played account.

Because we use cookies a player who visits and does not join right then will still be tagged to that affiliate until they are sent to the site again via another affiliate.

There is no need to cross promote a different casino in an attempt to get the unregistered player. Just wait until the cookie expires and send a promo for the same casino.

As we know a cookie is written for each casino. Since we know that different affiliates can have the same player in different casinos we can safely assume that a brand cookie is not written.

If the potential player registers before the cookie expires then the last affiliate is credited. If the cookie expires the affiate is no longer credited.

After examining my cookie data for various casinos, including several CR’s it looks like the CR affiliate id expires in 90 days.

    Cookie data for affilate field:
    Name: affiliate
    Content: aff28318
    Host:xwww.blackjackballroom.com
    Path:/
Send for: Any type of Connection
    Expires: Sunday, November 30, 2008, 7:00:01 pm

Perhaps someone from CR could verify that it is in fact the above affiliate id field that is read in order to credit the affiliate?

as an FYI: I did receive one of those scratch cards a long time ago.
    thanks

Bonuses/loyalty points can’t be claimed into a non-existing account. They can only be redeemed at an existing account

that’s cool. And goes a long ways towards explaining why their income is in line with that of places that do tag over.

I’ve got an account at nearly every property so I can only go on what I see inside my players account and of course all the properties are visible.

if you only have one account then are you only presented with the only choice to accept your rewards?

see what I worry about is I promote (and rightly so) CR as being a reputable network which by doing so … i am endorsing all their properties. And in fact I promote all the properties.

So if the player is presented with opportunity to join a different casino in the network then I lose that player for whatever they play at the second casino.

That was scary when there were a dozen choices but now with over 20 it is something I have to give consideration.
