Bad Form.
That’s all there is to it.
Thankfully, while there is no governing body for things such as this, at least their are avenues such as CAP where affiliates can call Programmes out for things like this.
August 27, 2008 at 1:54 pm #776923AnonymousInactiveI would like to know what program this is if you don’t mind telling us or if you don’t want to mention them in this thread can you PM me?

I would like to send them an email first to make sure an error has not been made.
August 27, 2008 at 4:43 pm #776946biggygMemberI am wondering how you know the player did this?must be a friend or family member I guess. It is hard to prove who does cross promote and who doesn’t so I just deal with the groups who earn me the most money.I have sent one casino over 1000 active players this year and they earn me less than another casino who i sent 150 players to .I am to the point i have maybe 3 groups i trust completely LOL
August 29, 2008 at 6:30 am #777161voodoomanMemberJust had email contact with the AM of this program, I aked the following questions:
Q – If you cross promote one of my clients to another one of your casinos do I still get revenue share commission from that client of mine?
A – In answer to your question – the way our program works is that different affiliates can send the same player to different brands. For example I could send a player to “Casino A” and you could send a player to “Casino B” and we each earn off that players play on the respective account.
Although we do not actively cross promote our brands, if a player is then to join another casino in our group via going to the website directly we cannot track the player to only one of us (ie you sent him to “Casino A” and me to “Casino B” – who would the player be tracked to?).
Q – So if your group posted marketing material / CD to one of my clients that I sent to “Casino A” enticing them to play at “Casino B” then I would not benefit from this?
A – If you had sent a player to “Casino A” for example and our marketing CD went out to “Casino B” for that player you would not earn off this. (again in this situation if a player has been sent to different brands by multiple affs there’s no way for us to say this player should now be tagged on “Casino B” to affiliate X or Y).
Note though that we do also send CDs to existing inactive players as well – so if you had sent a player to “Casino A” for example and they have become inactive, they may also receive a CD for “Casino A” in which case they will stay tagged to you if they start playing again.
I have removed identifying names.
August 29, 2008 at 8:15 am #777165AnonymousInactiveI agree with this guy if they didn’t cross promote and another affiliate down the line sends the player to another property as that has noting to do with you or the fact you sent that player to the original property
BUT
If he promotes to that player to purposely move him then really they have no excuse and to be honest it makes no long term sense because affiliates would be fools to promote that program over and above one that doesn’t do this
August 29, 2008 at 8:35 am #777166TramalosriMemberInteresting thread,
I would say that if you have directed a player to the Casino and that is the players only account with them, and they then cross sell it to another casino in their Group you should be entitled to a revenue share.
If the player already has two accounts withinthe Casino group and has been directed their by 2 different affiliates it becomes trickier if they then cross sell it to a third Casino. On the other hand you would want to know why they tried to cross sell him to a new Casino instead of giving a great offer on the current one.
Also as Casinobonusguy says, it is hard to find out if a site cross promote unless you know them, or Why just that player is being targeted, he might have signed up for a newsletter or shown interest in the Casino somewhere else and therefor getting the Casino software and letter sent home.
Cheers

This is getting complicated now…….What would be the usual practice in this situation?

This is the part where it all gets “dodgy”.
This opens the door for them to get a whale to move over to a different casino and thereby do not need to pay you anymore.
This is simply wrong..
THEY WOULD NOT HAVE HAD THE PLAYER IF IT WAS NOT FOR YOU!
If the want to cross promote.. then you MUST be credited for that player…
I also think that it is time for you to reveal which group this is since they have clearly answered your questions and other affiliates should know about this.
August 29, 2008 at 10:45 am #777177voodoomanMemberSome of you have asked how I am aware that this program is doing what I have described above, well there are many ways to skin a cat.
The way I did it was that I signed up at “Casino A” after seeing downloads but no sign ups on my stats. I deposited funds, received a bonus and played only to eventually lose all. I checked my stats later and my sign-up and deposit was reflected correctly. About ten days later I deposited and played again at the same casino, when I checked my stats they reflected correctly.
A few weeks later I received the CD from “Casino B” offering a good bonus etc, etc. I thought this rather cheeky so using the CD I installed “Casino B” software, signed up with the exact same details as I used for “Casino A” and made a deposit. I played and eventually lost all again. However this sign-up and deposit is not reflected in my stats.
I used the exact same information to sign-up at both casinos as I used when signing up as an affiliate for this program. I am not trying to hide anything. I am also aware that my personal details may have been taken from my affiliate account by “Casino B” in order to send me the marketing material.
That is why I emailed the AM and asked the questions I did. He answered truthfully, as all reading this thread are aware.

I have placed myself in a rather difficult situation as I hate burning peoples arses.
I need to think about this one for a while.

I am sorry – but you brought it up and if you do NOT warn your fellow affiliates as to which group this is – then you will be burning them.
August 29, 2008 at 11:59 am #777180AnonymousInactiveixian,
I hope you will tell us which affiliate program is doing this. What you have described is outright theft, and it isn’t acceptable.
A lot of affiliates barely make enough to make ends meet, and you would be doing them a huge favor by letting them know which group is stealing their commissions. The struggling affiliate can then dump this program and start promoting a decent program that doesn’t rob their own affiliates.
August 29, 2008 at 12:18 pm #777181voodoomanMemberThe program referred to by me in this thread is Casino Rewards.
The AM I referred to is Yaniv.
What makes me angry about this is that Casino Rewards works on the wager share system, so you need lots of clients to make any decent commission.
I have devoted a whole page on my site to their casinos and if this is how my future clients will be transferred to other casinos without the client being tagged to me, well then that is really bad.
Please prove me wrong.
August 29, 2008 at 12:43 pm #777183AnonymousInactiveWow — that is not the name I expected (or wanted) to see! Thanks for sharing it, though.
I’m sure Renee or Yaniv will respond to this when they get back in the office next week. It’s Saturday there now, and they may or may not have Monday off as a holiday.
If Rewards is indeed cross promoting without giving affiliates credit, this needs to change ASAP.
It is one thing to cross promote to a player who was not referred by an affiliate. But if the player was referred by an affiliate, the affiliate should always earn from that player, regardless of which casino he plays at. Obviously if multiple affiliates are involved, it is more complicated, but still — once affiliates are involved, at NO time should 100% of the aff-tagged player’s deposits end up in the hands of the casino.

I agree, and I know exactly where you’re coming from. I’m planning to devote several entire sites to their brands. Those plans are now on hold until this is cleared up.
I hope this is a misunderstanding… :tooconfus
August 29, 2008 at 1:02 pm #777184AnonymousInactiveSurprises me as well…
Will have to see what Renee has to say about this.
Thanks ixian!
