UNLV IGI Launches AI Research Hub

How will artificial intelligence (AI) impact the future of the gaming industry? It’s pretty tough to tell at this point, but the industry took a big step towards that goal with the recent opening of the AI Research Hub (AiR Hub) at the University of Las Vegas Nevada’s International Gaming Institute (IGI).

One the AiR Hub’s major projects is the soon-to-be-released State of AI in Gaming report. The State of AI in Gaming represents the first time that AI’s place in the regulated gaming space has been examined at such an in-depth level. According to UNLV representatives, the report is set to be published annually.

The report’s mission includes surveying current and future use cases and indexing companies on their AI maturity; thought leadership and practical tools for operators and regulators to promote responsible AI oversight and governance; and developing benchmarking solutions for critical AI systems within the sector.

AiR Hub was co-founded by industry research veteran Kasra Ghaharian, IGI Director of Research, and Simo Dragicevic.

Ghaharian elaborated on AiRHub’s mission in a recent press release saying, “UNLV’s International Gaming Institute has a long history of pioneering research in the gaming sector, and we are excited to launch AiR Hub as the next step in that journey,” said. “Our vision is to create tangible progress through collaborative, actionable research with engagement across a range of stakeholders, including regulators, academics, non-profit organizations, and industry.”

Dragicevic summed up AiRHub’s launch saying, “We are grateful for not only the financial support offered by our founding members, but also the expert knowledge they bring in regard to technology, data, and wider gambling business and player support practices. We operate in a highly complex and integrated industry that is evolving quickly, and this knowledge and experience will be essential to fully understanding the risks and capitalizing on the potential of AI.”
