Tough Stance on Gambling from Police Chief

October 13, 2008 (InfoPowa News) — Indonesia is about to see increased anti-illicit gambling activity across the board by police, according to statements from its newly appointed national police commissioner, General Bambang Hendarso Danuri.

According to regional media reports in the Jakarta Post, General Bambang has vowed to eradicate gambling completely from the Asian country, promising that he will "bash" the pastime.

The new chief's immediate plan is to assemble regional police chiefs in order to motivate them and introduce a new and as yet undefined "culture" throughout the national police force.

"A change in culture must begin within the national police," The General said.
