Play with the Stars, Win a Beach House — All for Charity

March 13, 2009 (InfoPowa News) — Pacific Poker.com is putting the finishing touches to an ambitious promotion that will see an online poker player win a seat in the next star-studded Cannes Charity Poker Event — a private charity tournament that will run in tandem with the Cannes Film Festival later this year.

Scheduled for May 19th 2009, the high-profile event attracts top poker-playing celebs, with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon already signed up for this year. Pacific Poker's winner will be sponsored for travel to Cannes and return and a three-day stay in a five-star hotel, along with any buy-in required.

A luxurious $250,000 beach house in Durban, South Africa is also on the prize list, and players can try for this an online qualifier on May 9th for players who have at least 1,200 frequent player points on Pacific Poker tables. The points must have been accumulated within the period from March 1st through May 5th. For players who do not have the necessary points, there will be a $160 buy-in satellite event on May 7th, with the top three finishers each receiving a seat to the online qualifier two days later.

Proceeds from the Cannes Charity Poker Event will go to Not on Our Watch, a charity devoted to helping children in the Darfur region of Africa, and One Voice for Freedom, a charity dedicated to abolishing modern slavery around the world.

Full details of the tournaments and qualifiers are available on the Pacific Poker site.
