OJ Simpson sues Cosmopolitan Las Vegas for discrimination

Shortly after OJ Simpson was released from prison in 2017 after serving nine years in the Nevada State Penitentiary on robbery charges he went to the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas to celebrate. But when he got to the door, the former football legend and alleged double-murderer was denied entry.
According to a later TMZ gossip report, hotel employees said that Simpson was denied entry because he was drunk. Simpson says he was, in fact, denied entry, but not because he was drunk, but because of the color of his skin. He also alleges that the hotel employees who allegedly supplied TMZ with the story defamed his good character by accusing him of being drunk when he wasn’t drunk at all.
Not surprisingly, the whole matter has wound up in a Las Vegas courtroom with Simpson alleging defamation and the hotel arguing that it’s impossible to smear OJ Simpson’s name. (Which seems like a pretty solid argument to the layman.)
In his defense, Simpson says that he definitely wasn’t drunk that night in 2017 and has the urine test to prove his claim. As it turns out, part of Simpson’s parole agreement involved regular drug and alcohol tests, one of which he had the day after the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas incident. According to a report from News 3 Las Vegas, he passed that particular test with flying colors.
The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas is hoping to settle the whole matter through arbitration. Simpson is asking the hotel to pay out his defamation claim for $50,000.
