Norwegian Wins LAPT Uruguay

March 23, 2009 (InfoPowa News) — Norwegian player Karl Evroy is the new PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour Punta del Este champ, taking a first prize of $283,500 to his northern home after defeating Alejandro De Arruabarrena of Uruguay in a fast, one-hand heads up that left the second placed De Arruabarrena with a $155,420 payday.

The quick victory was expected; Evroy not only dominated the final table, but he also had a 6-to-1 chip advantage going into the heads up, which he exploited to the full.

The brief heads up was the culmination of three days of tough tournament poker that saw 327 players in the entry field, creating a record million-dollar prize pool for the South American classic tourney.

Other final tablers for the event were Angel Guillén, Ron Wasiel, Oliver Rowe, Waldemar Cogo, Bolivar Palacios Vasquez, Magno Aragao and Andre Ventura.
