Gronk Returns to Super Bowl for ‘Kick of Destiny 2’

NFL legend, and TV pitchman, Rob Gronkowski will be returning to the Super Bowl to take another stab at greatness on behalf of FanDuel. Gronk, as he’s known, will be participating in the Kick of Destiny 2 live on air moments before the real kickoff from players who are actually playing in the game.

The Kick of Destiny was first attempted last year during Super Bowl LVII and is a FanDuel promotion that gives players a chance to make a free pick on Gronk’s efforts. Customers who qualify also get a shot at taking home a share of $10,000,000 in free bets from the operator. Kick of Destiny 2 will be the culmination of a larger campaign that features Gronkowski on a redemptive arc as he attempts to make up for missing last year’s Kick of Destiny. The spots will include guest appearances from other celebrities, including Jon Cena (who will be rooting against Gronk) and Carl Weathers (who will be rooting for him).

Gronkowski played up the story line in a recent press release from FanDuel saying, “I can’t lie, when I missed the Kick of Destiny during last year’s Super Bowl, it was devastating. I told the team at FanDuel I knew I could do better and needed a shot at redemption this year. I’m going to show America I can make that kick, even with all the pressure of doing it live in front of the entire country. No wind is going to stop me, and we’re going through the uprights this year for everyone who picks that I’m going to make the kick.”

Kick of Destiny 2 is set to take pace moments before the real Super Bowl LVIII kickoff on Sunday, February 11 at 6:30 (EST).
