Federal Online Gambling Bill (R.I.P)
One of the least surprising stories of the year was the US Government’s inability to pass the Reid-Kyl Bill governing online gambling at a national level.
A Federal bill would be a great deal for big-time operators who aren’t interested in navigating a patchwork of state gambling laws to do business; and would also have a big impact on tribal gaming interests. None that, however, was enough to sway the do-nothing Congress into action and at this point, Federal igaming legislation is not likely to happen.
