Ray Bitar Sentenced
Ray Bitar was the CEO of Full Tilt Poker when the Black Friday indictments came down but was able to elude arrest by fleeing to Ireland. He stunned the gambling world by turning himself in during the summer of 2012, but the sly Bitar still had a couple surprises up his sleeve in 2013.
Bitar cut a deal with prosecutors that allowed him to walk free with time served (7 days), a $40 million fine and the forfeiture of several homes.
His willingness to cut a deal was hastened by a very serious medical crisis. Bitar, it turns out, is desperately ill and needs a heart transplant as soon as possible. As of this writing, Bitar is still waiting for his transplant.
