Bally’s Eyes Trump Property for NY Casino

Bally’s Corporation is looking to build a blockbuster casino in New York City and has its eyes on the Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point in the Bronx as part of the package. If successful in its bid to grab one of three highly coveted New York casino licenses, Bally’s would lease the land from the Trump Organization, which in turn is leasing the land from the City of New York.

Though all the details are not yet publicly available, Bally’s has made it clear that the land will no longer be used as a golf course. That news will likely come as music to the ears of local residents, who generally cannot afford to use the “luxury” course; and to city officials who loathe the Trump Organization as a whole.

In comments reported on by the New York Post, a Bally’s Corporation official described the operator’s plan for creating a space that operates as more than a casino saying, “We are incredibly excited at the prospect of bringing Bally’s community centered approach to gaming and entertainment to The Bronx. At Bally’s, we start with the proposition that the leaders in the community know what is best for their community.”

“Our vision, which includes transforming a former waste disposal site and a high-end golf course into a world class entertainment destination, with a focus on workforce housing and new and improved public green space at the center of the project,” they added.

The Trump Organization had no official comment on the matter, but it’s likely that the less they say, the better off everyone will be. Bally’s Corporation has said that it plans to remove the Trump name from the property should their casino bid be successful.
