Atlantic City Casinos Still Under Pressure (Update)

February 12, 2009 (InfoPowa News) — Atlantic City's eleven land casinos continued to battle in tough economic conditions in January 2009, improving slightly on December 2008's record revenue decline but still 9.4 percent below the same period in 2008.

The gambling venues won $211.6 million at the slot machines, down 9.6 percent, and $109.8 million at table games, down 9.1 percent, reports the Associated Press. In all, the establishments won $321.4 million.

Atlantic City's revenue decline, now in its third year, coincided with the opening of slots parlors in Pennsylvania and New York.
