FanDuel partners with Suquamish tribe on Washington State gaming

FanDuel and Port Madison Enterprises are teaming up on a deal to bring regulated sports betting to Washington State. The deal centers on the Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort, where FanDuel will be opening a new sportsbook at the Suquamish Tribe’s casino and resort.

The new FanDuel sportsbook includes three betting windows and 12 self-service kiosks for players. Washington sports fans will also be able to watch live sports action on 17 big-screen televisions, and enjoy other amenities at the casino. (Though most wagering will likely take place online anyways.)

In a statement posted on FanDuel’s website,Rion Ramirez, CEO of Port Madison Enterprises, the business arm of the Suquamish Tribe praised the deal saying, “We are excited to partner with FanDuel, America’s #1 Sportsbook, and to be their exclusive partner in Washington State.”

Leonard Forsman, Chairman of the Suquamish Tribe took a more pragmatic approach to the deal saying, “We are so pleased with the recent addition of sports wagering to our gaming compact, making sports betting legal in the state for the first time. Revenue from sports wagering will help support the Suquamish Tribe’s important governmental services offered to both tribal members and the local non-tribal community.”

Regulated sports betting in America is proving to be a financial shot in the arm for state governments, and is having the same positive impact on tribal gaming. For FanDuel, the deal represents a solid opportunity to stake out a big share of West Coast sports betting revenue.
