Google’s Updates: Fair or Unfair

Ah, good old google. The evil empire we love to hate and the online god we try to appease – to no avail.

If they didn’t constantly update they would be as stale and tired as microsoft, myspace and yahoo (slam, slam, slam – boy that feels good).

The older I get the more I believe only thing that they ever say. Concentrate on good content and you should be fine.

So… are you on the side that Google can call the shots and make the updates as they feel?

It’s their system.
Yahoo etc. can create their own system that people use because it is the best.

Neither the government nor anyone else gave google the inside track. They came to market leadership by having the best product.

As long as they break no laws there is nothing that anyone can do, except gang up on them with consumer groups, boycotts and industry alliances. The US government broke up the old AT&T by using monopoly laws. But the virtual online world is much different than the physical world.

If they decided to unfairly manipulate their non-sponsored search results then it would eventually become obvious to everyone they were doing it. They would lose effectiveness, credibility and thus usage.

I assume google updates secretly to keep marketers from using the information to skew the results in their own favor.

Also, it is a fact of life “if you’ve gold, you make the rules”.

And as my brother-in-law says “I don’t make the news, I just report it”.

I’m not really sure what to think about this decision by Google. On one hand, I love the fact that it is now harder for the competition to do well. At the same time, its also a bit scary for myself because I rely on Google for my traffic. I hope Google doesn’t get too tricky or complicated over the next few years, I’m not rich yet (far from it actually) lol

Google are a business, they can do what they want and they don’t owe us a living

Hey, I was nice to them…

They owe me big time !!!

People lose money and Google Ranking is still considered a benchmark among the people who trade the links. So, Google may have decided to keep it low this time.

Voted unfair. I run a site made by people for people – not for Google. One could think that this is an approach Google updates like. Unfortunatelly, Google´s updates promoted competitors sites and totally sank mine. I made survey among some friends (they didnt know which site is mine among comeptitors) and they prefered my site as more informative and credible.

Thats the reason I voted “unfair” but probably i am not detached..:colgate:
