And I agree with that point, it wasnt/isnt right. For me that’s basically it. For years they have let 888 do as it pleases while condemning other casinos for doing the same things. Thats not an independant position at all. If I cant trust them in that area, how or why should I trust it in others?
The language of that gambling federation article I posted a few post back provides more than a simple chuckle, its down right laughable.

If only 50% of what eCogra does is good isn’t that better then 0%If eCOGRA had done years ago what they claim to be responsible for doing, we would not be here dicussing 888 now. eCOGRA claims to represent the gambling industry, to a certain extent that affects every single person that participates in that industry.
If the doctor tells you he has to cut your leg off, would it be ok if he only cut it 50% off? Sometimes 50% just isn’t going to cut it, and IMO this is one of those cases. They (eCOGRA) either represent in a consistent manner 100% or they dont represent at all.

InactiveI really enjoyed this discussion. I have heard many webmasters state players issues was their number one priority. So in a sense, in part, this is an affiliate issue as well. How would a webmaster feel sending a player to 888 knowing full well his PC is just about to get vandalized. What recourse does this player have except ecogra and its’ obvious favoritism towards 888. Is this putting the players intersts above your own?
But anyway, I think all contributors towards this issue has brought forth varying degrees of opinions and is useful. Seeking the truth in matters sometimes hurts as I warnned in the beginning of this thread. greek39

InactiveNothing much has come of it Greek. I am a bit disappointed.
Ecogra cover 80% of the WWW online casinos.
As a player I say –
Prove the game is fair.
Define bonus abuse.As a webber I say –
Responsible operator conduct in all aspects.Apparently these are unfair demands. It start arguements.

InactiveFrom my point of view I have completely withdrawn from the discussion at WOL and actually lost all my taste for discussing the eCOGRA issue. I have dealt with eCOGRA from a casino perspective, has seen them in action many times, working in the background without anyone even aware of what they were doing. Just for getting a seal a casino already has to ensure allot of safety for the players. eCOGRA DO NOT deserve these slaps they are receiving!
The posts over at WOL have made me realize that I cannot even mention the fact that I am unhappy about their action or rather lack of towards 888. At the moment it is all a bunch of people getting drunk at a party, speaking nonsense and setting fire to the barbeque with eCOGRA still on it! I cannot believe the amount of senseless allegations and words flying to and from. I also noticed that the people I respect has withdrawn from that discussion as well. No matter what they say they just get flamed for being eCOGRA buddies.
The fact of the matter is that eCOGRA is all we have, and without a doubt the best we have. They can push a casino to act and they will get legitimate issues sorted out! Part of the reason they are successful is for the structure they have and the fact that they have industry leaders in their midst. As affiliates we should know better than to rant and rave like that. As affiliates we should actually stand together and listen to one another. As affiliates we should not turn on one another but respect each other’s opinions. Every person has an opinion to share and that is his right to share it. Yes I get annoyed by people that do not always think about the effects of their “opinion” (especially in a public players forum) and yes if they share uninformed “opinions” (especially in a public players forum) with the objective that are completely impossible to understand. But hell I am human; I can get peeved now and then. So this is probably my last opinion before I leave this discussion to the rest of you.

Exactly.
And there are a lot more important things to do than trash eCOGRA (if you get it to shut down there will be no one to ever fund another attempt at self regulation).
Searching google for 888, Casino on Net and Pacific poker spamdexing and turning it in to 888 and google is infinitely more productive and cannot hurt.

Perhaps this was the discussion I was looking for. I offer no defense, you are entitled to be disappointed. Arguments at times can be a good thing, throw off the vail and seek the truth.
I could take the argument further, but what has already been said is good enough. I choose to leave it at that. greek39
