Show Those Guys Who’s Boss
Bet365 is an incredibly successful company that happens to be run by a woman. That shouldn’t be a big deal, but given the boys club mentality that sometimes defines the online gambling industry (see: CalvinAyre.com), it definitely stands out.
Not surprisingly, Coates doesn’t pay much mind to the role of gender in the board room, as she explained to the Guardian:
“I never gave it a second thought. It didn’t cross my mind. I probably had a few [meetings] at first where I had to put somebody right – but I knew my business, so it wasn’t a problem … I just wanted to get on with making my business successful. I’ve never dwelled on the fact, or thought about the fact, that I was a woman.
At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter whether you’re a man or woman, if you work hard enough, you can find success.
