How Many People are on your Team?

JillO asked 3 years ago
As many people might of seen, we’ve started up something fun on Fridays in the CAP Blog, and that’s our Friday Poll. It’s been pretty cool seeing all the responses that we’ve been getting in and we’ve been able to get a decent gauge from the community on several pretty neat industry related stuff.

Because we’re just curious… this week we’re polling on how many people are on your online gaming business team? So many affiliates that we work with are “1 man shows.” I applaud you guys and gals. It’s amazing all that you accomplish and it’s only you making it all happen! And other partners are a bit larger.

Take 2 seconds and take the poll. It’s fun. Just do it.

I find it much easier to do most things on my own. Nowadays, you can hire people over the Internet
for just about anything, so if I can’t manage everything on my own.. I just hire someone online to do it.

I’ve just left full-time employment to start up a new business. The thing I miss most about working in a traditional office environment is being around like-minded, dynamic individuals. It helps to be able to bounce ideas off of others, and to feel-well supported in being able to achieve shared aims/targets.

Now as a sad one-man-band, working out of the the most bijoux second bedroom in London – my home office – I’m very aware that I’m the sole provider of ideas, creativity and of course, labour as well. Of course it’s easy to call up contacts, to use as a sounding board and to ask for advice when needed, but it’s just not the same if you’re not working in the same office.

Luckily I’m still consulting with the same organisation that I left, so I get my fill of a ‘real workplace’ a few days per week.

So yeah, hopefully I’ll have new staff in place later on this year! (I’m trying to poach a few individuals from my old workplace – shh, don’t tell.)

True you cannot do everything by yourself in order to grow and expand your business. It’s so important to have a team mentality, and understand your own strengths and weaknesses and build a team from there.

However, why would running a big team automatically mean something better for your company? But I guess it’s all in the definition of a large team. To me, a large team is 50+ employees.

Well, 50+ employees is a large team in my book as well. To have 50 employess usually means that you are sucessful as owner. My goal is to become sucessful and and having employees is essential.

One example is SEO. I’m not an expert myself but when I can afford it I will hire a SEO-expert from my network. I know that the investment will return itself. Expending to other markets is another field that will require staff if you want it do be done with great results.

Just look at pokerstrategy.com. They are good at what they are doing but they have lots of employees even if it started with an idea and a goal of a single person (I’m just guessing here).

If I may ask- what would you consider as a “large” team? And is there a reason why you would want to have a large team? Just curious…
