Highest-Converting Creatives?

VPGenius asked 3 years ago
Okay, which types of creatives convert best for you folks? I started out with strictly GIF banners because they don’t require third-party plugins and I can track clickthroughs on my server. But they just don’t look as good as Flash ads, and my Google Analytics data indicates that pretty much everyone has Flash installed.

While I was rethinking my position, I figured this topic would make a great poll too. So please share what kinds of creatives work best for you.

Thanks!

Hi SlotJunkie biggrin.gif

Text converts best for me. I use gif banners mostly as decorations, to make things more interesting, like hanging pictures on the wall. Some of these convert also, of course, but text converts best of all for me.

It does depend though on what people are coming to your site for. Look at your keyword and try to give people exactly what they came for.

Hi Dominique! Thanks for replying.

When you say to look at the keywords, do you mean to parse the HTTP_REFERER (which, by the way, has always bugged me that this variable name was implemented with incorrect spelling, it should be HTTP_REFERRER, but I digress) and then redirect the visitor to an appropriate page based on what they searched for? That’s very clever!!

Hi SlotJunkie,

All my signups come from the ebooks which contain all text links (except for some logos on the cover) and the game reviews.

Banners have a higher ctr when placed at the top half of the page fold.

Sometimes flash banners bog things down a bit.

Yes it is, and it’s much too clever for me. <span title=” title=”” class=”bbcode_smiley” /> I am very non-tech.

I was just saying if a person finds you listed in a search engine under “Omaha 8 bankroll” they don’t expect to find a banner for party poker, they expect something to tell them what size bankroll they need to play Omaha 8. Text. And they are likely to read and click on that text. But someone who clicks on “largest bonus on the internet” in the search engine is likely not looking to read about the pros and con’s of bonuses, and he is likely to click on the next banner with a huge bonus advertised.

I’m really just saying that you have to give the people what they want.

your keywords cannot be different as the ones you optimized your page for….
