Google’s Big OS Plans

Nathan asked 3 years ago
Another bold move from Google! Surprise, right?

In an interesting step outside of signature market — namely, Internet services — Google has announced plans to challenge Microsoft on its home turf, by developing its own operating system for PCs.

The new OS will be built around Google’s web browser, Chrome.

What do you think? Could Google really challenge Microsoft here? Are you excited to give it a try, or do you think it’s going to flop?

when I read this first thing that came to my mind was
“Is that secure? Which info can they get if I have my operating system online?”
But I don’t think more or less Microsoft can when having windows installed.
Besides I have nothing to hide.

In my opinion, it is too early to count MS out. It has recently launched Bing and will be releasing Windows 7 around the same time when Google will launch Chrome OS. It does not look like that clear winner will emerge from this- however till the time they conitnue to fight it out, the users stand to benefit. Innovation will speed up!

In my experience, and I am sure most of you agree, the code and products from google are much more “efficient” than the ones from MSFT. But OS will be a tough battle, cannot wait to watch.
