This is a really weird scam, firstly how did the scammer know what your username was at the registrar? Secondly how can that registrar tranfer your domain based just on a forged fax, sounds very dodgy and I certainly hope Godaddy are a bit more secure!
Of course the really dumb thing is the scammer who has forgotten to change the aff codes.
Really hope this works out for you, if it was me I’d be getting some very scary sounding lawyers to threaten your original registrar and threaten lawsuits etc, that would probably make them pull their damned finger out.The name server has not been changed so it still points to my dedicated host. So right now its still “my site” when you go to the url.
November 20, 2008 at 5:41 pm #787725AnonymousInactiveSo there is a thin silver lining at least.
As said hope this works out, I’m certain it will, just keep pushing them until they return your site.
November 20, 2008 at 6:30 pm #787730AnonymousInactiveSomehow this smells like someone who is after you personally and just wants to make trouble.
Not changing the aff codes after going through all that trouble to obtain the domain just makes no sense otherwise.
November 20, 2008 at 6:59 pm #787734AnonymousInactiveChips,
I had the same thing happen to me with the CAP password. Did you happen to get the IP of who tried to do it? Was it located in china by chance?
Dear john1124,
Someone has tried to log into your account on Casino Affiliate Programs (CAP) Community Discussion with an incorrect password at least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your account for the next 15 minutes.

http://www.casinoaffiliateprograms.com/bb/domain-fishing.31930.html?November 21, 2008 at 10:54 am #787823AnonymousInactiveyour personal details at some aff programs are not secure, and if you use the same password for your e-mail and aff accounts – you may have problems.. even some of my friends with an accidental click on a referer url from the stats accessed my profile at one aff program.

No, I never follow an email link for anything important!
I am starting to put the pieces together, Someone got access and I use complete nonesense passwords for SQl/ Host / FTP that are long and have all char types so it was not a brute force. I just now got an email from 1&1 that is interesting.
Hello
Your password reads: REMOVED
The request for transmitting this email came from the computer 72.29.71.155.Your 1&1-Team
So it appears someone simply went to 1&1 and requested the pw, and if they have access to my email they could do it for all my PW!
I think that by changing the pw on everything they were not able to log into the email and get it, delete the email and move on.
Oh, btw UI can log into 1&1 with any domain name I have as the account name! thats a security issue I believe
