Professor this a great idea and something that is very needed. Really, great idea. However, I have one troublesome question… The test portal… The skeptic in me feels as if the affiliate program will know about the test portal and any players that signup through the test portal will be treated fairly, therefore the auditing would not be truly conclusive. My suggestion would be to spread the wealth. Take a few affiliates you trust and have these tests on different affiliate accounts so that the affiliate program never can tell where a test is coming from. Or something like that…

I agree. Test portal is not a solution. We must do the tests from the webmasters portals, from different affiliate accounts. But I like the plan anyway. But it will not be effective from single test site.

Guys multiple affiliates are testing and the programs are not alerted that the tests are taking place. We will use a POOL of testers not one test portal. See:

    Quote:
First we gather an independant pool of affiliate testers from the CAP member community. These testers will rotate duties monthly.

    1. Each month half the pool will be divided into affiliate test portals with the remaining half of the volunteers acting as “players.”

    2. “Players” will sign up under the affiliate link of a test portal and deposit a predetermined amount into their cashier.

Nope, these audits are designed to uncover tracking and stats irregularities.

This is a great idea and I fully support it. However there are two hugely valuable player profiles that also need to be included in testing.

    1. The average depositor who deposits over many consecutive months

    2. The whale. Either a short term whale who dumps loads within days and disappears or the long term whale who deposits 5k+ for several consecutive months.

If you say this is not feasible because of the original outlay in deposits I propose to make a list of programs who would be up for possible testing and who would offer to reimburse losses on “test players”.

Goldfinger those are great ideas, but there has to be a cutoff point at some time. The audits as propsed will catch 98% of what goes on and thats a major leap forward.

Well there are a couple of ways to shave and I am not sure you would get near 98% by doing monthly tests. Nothing keeps you from doing monthly test, six months in a row on one account.

One way programs shave and this is the most blatant, stupid and outdated method is to just “not track” first time players. This has the greatest potential to get exposed.

The other more subtle way is to skim off the cream which is almost undetectable for most affiliates but I am sure is employed a lot. Also for the average affiliate this can be the most damaging. If a player who plays for ten months gets dropped after month 1 that is costly!

Is there anything in life that is 100%?

I think what is great about this idea is not that we will catch corrupt activity, but that it will make the affiliate programs aware that we are testing for corrupt activity, which may make programs have no choice but to not attempt to use these shady tactics anymore in fear of being exposed. I imagine many programs are reading this thread and are very nervous now.

Auditing is a very good idea.

    But…………….

    Some programs do not :

    1. count or show deposits
    2. players numbers, names etc.
    3. how do you test programs on wagershare
    4. how to deal with redirect links

    What to prevent :

    1. big portals should not get selected for the audit or just a few
    2. do checks on 1st day / last day of the month too.
    3. thinking of more

Sounds like a good idea. Affiliate programs should be tracked wheter individually (by yourself) or by some organization like CAP or another.

Good work and I hope you get enough people to move this forward, this is a great benefit to all affiliates, IMO, and if it moves forward – it will send some waves through any program with sketchy stats.
