InactiveI shall be in attendance. There is no reason for anyone who doesn’t deal with sportsbetting to be afraid in the slightest.
Though obviously a few sponsors have pulled out, Marc has worked hard to put this conference together for us for years and, unless there is a justifiable reason to change your plans, I would recommend planning to go and having the fun that you were already counting on.
Those who don’t show up – I understand perfectly. And I’m sure Marc does too – but ultimately I think you’re just screwing yourself out of a good time

Yes, but there is no way they are going to lock everyone in and go person to person to see if they are on “the list”. Besides if your on the list…your going down anyways.
I am sure there are a few people who if were to be in Vegas, action would be taken, but there is no way those individuals are that ignorant to attend.
Not to mention, there is no way Stardust would allow this to go on if this was a serious chance of taking place.
Like I said though, we will be in attendance and are very happy to be there. I hope to see all of you at our Party on Thursday for a lot of fun. I thank you Marc for putting on what looks to be a very fun week!

InactiveHi there!
We are going ahead, exactly as planned. We’re staying at the Wynn from the 10th until the 17th and my mobile number is +972 54 786 6121.
Risks
This whole fiasco reminds of a very funny but true story that I read in a great tennis book by Gordon Forbes, about three South African tennis stars from the sixties – Gordon Forbes, Abe Segal and Cliff Drysdale, titled “Too Soon To Panic” and it goes something like this…
One year, when they were all at the Davis Cup in Germany and practicing before the tournament, Gordon Forbes lost his temper, threw his racket at the fence and it hit a pole and shattered into pieces. So Abe called Gordon Forbes to the net and asked him: ‘When is the tournament starting Forbes?’ and Gordon Forbes answered: ‘At the end of the week Abe’. So Abe said: ‘Listen Forbes, it’s way too soon to panic. I’ll tell you exactly when you need to panic!’ So, in the doubles finals match between South African and German when it came to match point, in South Africa’s favor with the Germans serving, Abe casually put up his hand to stop the game, walked up to Gordon Forbes, who was facing serve, and whispered in his ear: ‘Forbes, panic now!’ Gordon Forbes went onto hit a winner and they won the match and the doubles title… bottom line: I’m sure that Mark will tell us if, and if so when to panic

Venue
Personally, I would like more variety. It’s a big, beautiful planet and there are plenty of places to visit and enjoy. We can meet in Central America or on safari in Africa next year and have a great time as well! In fact, going to a five star safari resort in Africa will be far better for networking – which is what is really important in our business!
Looking forward to seeing many of you in Vegas next week and those of you who aren’t coming – I’ll hopefully catch up with you at the next venue.
Have a safe flight in!
Cheers, Lloyd

Thank you Marc!
As it seems like you know what you are talking about regarding this great domain you must also know how much $$$$$$$ 21.com spent on it… :shhh: meaning.. 21.com is not only aware of the importance of building a strong brand, we are also take a great deal building a strong relationship with our affiliates, and events like CAC are very important to meet new and current affiliates. It will be shame not to see good friends who had to cancel their attendance. :unhappy:
Marc, I’m glad that you are not going to cancel this event, I’m sure everything will calm down soon and we will have a great time at CAC as we always do… (and get drunk as we always do… :shots: )
Malci:chearlead
p.s apperently it looks like there will be more girls in this event than any other events.. I wonder why? perhaps girls are braver than guys???? :Ohno: : :rollover:September 9, 2006 at 8:17 pm #705329
vladcizsolMemberGuys I just spoke with Marc and he has some encouraging news from managment at The Stardust.
He has been speaking with them continuously since all this controversy erupted Friday morning and they took everyones concerns very seriously. After checking everything out thouroughly they are confident that there are no major police operations planned at the Stardust.
Because of the size of their resort and because they are a state licensed casino the Stardust has a long standing relationship with local, state and federal law enforcement. Their contacts were unaware of any planned actions and were fairly certain that no warrents or actions were issued regarding CAC or its attendees. Stardust managment are standing behind that assessment. Further managment stated that if they DID believe there were going to be potential problems THEY would have cancelled the event as they dont want trouble at their resort.
This obviously is good news for those people planning to attend.
After thinking things over I believe that the risk to affiliates and affiliate managers is minimal and suggest that you guys just relax and have a good time in Vegas. If you already have plans to attend I would continue on with those, just dont drink to much or spend all your money on the casino floor.
With regards to prinicpal owners, sports book operators or persons with high visibility/exposure I would say that its probably best to attend conferences outside the United States until the legal climate changes.
CAC in Amsterdam is obviously now the #1 conference for our industry and I highly recommend attendence (you can be sure CAP will be there). ICE in London, GIGSE in Montreal, CAP Springbreak in the Bahamas and the Poker Industry Expo in Costa Rica are other MUST attend events for EVERYONE.
After careful thought I wanted to post this update to relieve some of the stress we have all gone trough since friday morning.
Have a great weekend and safe travels
