Guys there IS action. It’s not a total solution, but there are positive steps being made. I know there is an issue with trust (it’s well deserved, unfortunately) but the fact that 888 has modified their Terms and Conditions and are posting publicily about new policies that are being put into place is a HUGE step forward.

It basically answers the requests CAP put forth months ago and I view this very positively.

That being said, I think it’s prudent that we continue monitoring who these spammers, content theives and scumware users are directing their traffic too. If we see a shift away from 888 as a final destination then we will know that the casino group IS making a good faith effort to clean things up. Yes, the proof remains in the pudding so to speak and I would advise everyone to take a wait and see attitude before changing anything.

In the mean time please DO post all incidents of spam to 888 at the link they provided. Greek you seem to have thousands of urls to report. Please send ALL of them to 888 and please update on their responses to you.

I would also ask that everyone keep an open mind on this issue and lets work towards a resolution. And please lets not get side tracked in other issues you may want to address.

This thread is about 888 and their actions. It’s not about anything else or any other parties.

I may not have expressed myself very well in my first post in this thread.

When I was talking about “a month”, I meant…. a month after we see some real concrete changes, like scraper pages not pointing to 888 or Pacific anymore…

I agree with everyone that wants to see something more than talk and some changes to 888s T&C before taking down or changing anything.

What Casava has done so far is a good first step, but it is just one small step in a very long journey, in my opinion.

Side thought – If Casava does truly change its ways and start playing it straight, should we reward them? And if we do decide to reward them, how so?

Who is going to want to promote them after hearing things like Casava not paying an affiliate 80K or some of the other things that Casava has condoned in the past?

Too be honest I don’t know if I could ever promote such a company.

I was the one ripped off by 888.com for over $80K.

But the issue was not one of site scraping. It was the issue of what they laughingly call ‘bonus abuse’. I say ‘laughingly’ because the behaviour they describe as ‘abuse’ is still PERMITTED by their software!

I sent hundreds of players to them under their old cpa scheme. I had pointed out to those players that the 888.com t&c and their software allowed players to deposit, get a bonus, withdraw their deposit and then make money with the bonus only – thereby creating a risk-free way of potentially making some good money.

An organisation the size of 888 have the manpower and resources to change their software to stop this happening – but they DON’T – they just pull the plug on affiliates sending them this type of traffic, thereby gaining themselves a whole bunch of future players without costing them a cent – and leaving the affiliate high and dry.

This is just another example of 888.com’s highly questionable business practices. If they really wanted to stop bonus abusers signing up, they would tweak their software. But they don’t. They WANT these players, they just don’t want to PAY for them. So they rip affiliates off. In my case, for around $87K. I notice they have now REOPENED the cpa deal – presumably to catch some more unsuspecting affiliates this way, too.

I have been watching the site scraping threads with delight, as 888.com have been made to squirm at the end of the CAP line. It doesn’t get me my $87K back, but it SURE AS HELL is good to see these b@stards SUFFER.

I’ll back out of this thread again now, because it’s not about bonus abuse, it’s about site scraping and blog spamming and stuff like that. That’s not an issue for me.

I just thought I’d remind you all about their other scummy tactics while someone was mentioning my $80K+ losses.

If you have a rogue page up – my opinion is: KEEP IT UP. PERMANENTLY.
(unless they back-pay all us ‘bonus-abuse’ affiliates)

    # I worry the link at the bottom of the aff site to be missable.
    # 888 could issue a press release asking the public to submit probs. It might hit mainstream news.
    # A dedicated complaint page be built, not 1 email addy that will get spammed.

I hope they can put some real effort and manpower into this initiative and make it sparkle.
There are some real cynics about. :wavey:

& yes, bonus abuse issues affect affs too. I don’t think I should elaborate here today.

Good iniative dealt with here at Cap on this one. It goes to show that the first answer is not necissarily the last word.

Do these two qualify as spam?

    1) http://intercasino.freehostonline.com
    2) http://www.golden-palace-casino.150m.com

The affiliate (oor affiliates, I think they are the same) posted these sites on my message boards and I let 888.com know about it (by phone and e-mail) on March 14, 2006.

If they are, then you guys should report them to the reportspam@888.com, and see what happens.

I was on the phone with Partnerlogic and Golden Palace first when I saw this, and found out they were 888.com affiliates. Needless to say Partnerlogic and Golden Palace were not thrilled.

What is being asked by 888 goes far and wide. People must dig very deep to cough up these scrapers. I would also warn some scrapers have pages carrying malicious viruses attached to them, mainly malware exploits and are very vicious.

I will give 888 a chance to clean up this mess and will submitt directly to 888 for the time being. I will also report to them the links which are spamindexing in the SE’s as per their policies.

Some people may have limited knowledge in seeking out scrapers, I run a automated program which picks them out pretty good. If you find yourself in a desperate situation please feel free to contact me. I need consent before I go poking around someone’s site. Please bare in mind I can only handle so many.

Stand up Job Professor and Cap I give thanks for providing us all with the real deal. I will use your guidance in this matter. greek39

I think alot of posters too quick to remove the rogue pages should go back and read what you initially posted – more like hate mail against 888. If most people can post using the name 888 all over the search engines, then 888 can certainly post the culprits site at least so we all can help weed out these scrapers.

Those too quick to jump the gun and start favorably advertising for them again, let me remind you, it’s not about money, it’s about keeping these get rich quick scrapers from make the fast buck unethically and about giving us the opportunity to EARN the money and not having it stolen from us by these lazy webmasters.

If we can publish the name “888” for allowing these bums to stealing our content and so forth, then you can bet your sweet behind, 888 can publish the site that has been caught doing the stealing. Have you ever gone into a gas station or grocery store where bad checks are displayed for customers to see?

You don’t go from bashing a site to loving it – if that’s the case, then it is all about the money. In my case, I’ll go from bashing it to respecting it first and it sounds like they are wanting our respect again. Once they have earned it, I will be more than happy to work with them again.

Removing their Rogue Page does not equate to promoting 888. I never have and I doubt I ever will promote them.

I am though meeting them half way. I encourage the dialogue Lou is having with them to help clear up this situation. I also am glad that 888 have updated their terms and conditions.

    Hello all,

Here is a brief update on actions taken against three affiliates who were reported to us recently:

    1. On June 4th Dominique reported the following misbehavior on one of our affiliates: http://661.h1az41.info/
    http://www.pacificpoker.com/PokerInstaller?s=111111111111111111&sr=332606&lang=en

On June 5th we sent the affiliate a warning to cease this activity immediately.
Since the affiliate’s action did not cease, on June 7th we blocked and suspended the affiliate’s account. We then emailed Dominique to update her on the action taken.

    2. On March 14th, Mark Lesnick reported the following misbehavior of one of our affiliates:
    http://intercasino.freehostonline.com
    http://www.golden-palace-casino.150m.com

On March 14th, we sent the affiliate a warning to cease this activity immediately and he did.

We received another complaint today, June 29th, from Dominique and we immediately blocked and suspended the affiliate’s account and informed him of that action. We will email Dominique to update her on the action taken within 72 hours.

    3. On June 1st, Dominique reported the following misbehavior on one of our affiliates to E-Cogra:

    http://www.google.com/search?q=link+www.gamesandcasino.com&hl=en&lr=&start=30&sa=N
    http://1678.radikale-vinderup.dk/

On June 6th, we blocked and suspended this affiliate’s account and notified ECogra of the action taken.

Please send us any other evidence of misbehaving affiliates to: reportspam@888.com and we will be happy to investigate.

    Regards,
    Shelly

I will update a rogue page with “further information” as and when. Info on it, will stay as is for posterity.

888’s denouncement of blog spamming has been met with some scepticism within 24hrs of the announcement.

888 will be watched for a little longer before forgiveness is forthcoming I feel. 888 links, whover posted them, have upset a good few folk, of course not just gaming affiliates.

Talk is talk and actions speak for themselves.

Only actions will move me to make any changes, and those will lead to probation and not complete forgiveness.

Please send us any other evidence of misbehaving affiliates to: reportspam@888.com and we will be happy to investigate

If this continues to be on track probation will follow soon.

However, none of your mails have reached me. This may be due to your spam filter throwing out the requests for reply by my boxtrapper. Please PM me with the address that responds to my complaints and I will whitelist it.

What am interested in, all the spamdexing URLs listed by greek in the old 888 pages, the redirects, are those being fixed too?

Actually this affiliate operates hundreds of sites, while he may have taken down the few you pointed out, he has not ceased “all” of his activities. I will have a list forwarded to you today.

Same with the others 1 & 3, they are from a similar “network” of sites and they have hundreds more. Most of which were already addressed by the search engines.

Thanks for taking these actions. I am curious why you are informing eCOGRA that you are suspending affiliate accounts?

I would also be interested in hearing your comments regarding sites like casinoonnet-online.com for instance which is owned by cassava.
