I’ve pulled their rogue page as of now. I am willing to meet them half way.

    A very positive step IMO.

I want to see at least one real action.

After that I will put 888 on probation and watch for more action and no new spamdexing appearing, because hopefully 888 will screen new affiliates for such things.

After that I will remove the rogueging entirely.

Anyone have any suggestions about how long we should all wait before we start pulling or editing the 888 rogue stuff? Maybe a month?Leave it up until we see some concrete results. The statement made by 888 is very encouraging, for sure, and I am happy to see 888 working toward fixing the problem. That said, I think it is much too soon to be taking anything down.

They have had those new terms and links on their pages up for at least a week or more, so this new statement does nothing more than reiterate what we already knew.

They dont seem to have put much thought into their new system, as its quoted differently in this statement and on their website. The Nicolas statement here states that they will send out a warning to affiliates. On the website policy it states that they “will immediately be placed under review and any commissions due to him will be withheld, until further investigation can be completed.”

They have in the past stated they would address items, I wish I could link you to their old forum (maybe its in the attic) but time after time they said they would investigate items we gave them just as they have with this new letter. The only difference now is that they put up a policy and a reporting link on their site. Thus, until positive changes are witnessed I will assume its business as usual.

I just dont see them forcing their top affiliates, to follow their new policies. I hope I am wrong.

Well, one of the things I wanted was for them to amend their T & C’s to cover scraping and other illegal activities by their affiliates.

They have now legally committed themselves to kicking out any individual from their affiliate program, who are caught scraping on two counts.

Their failure to implement this in the past, was one of the reasons I rogued them and also I believe one of the factors, as to why CAP removed their certified program status.

They have now made good on that.

That is good enough for me to remove their roguing.

I am going to leave 888 on the ban list until they completly changed the terms and conditions fairly for the affiliate and make them better than anything they had in the past, destroy EVERY SINGLE scrapper on the internet that they know about, get rid of EVERY piece of spam in their program and reimburse EVERY SINGLE affiliate that was scrapped. Until then, they are NEVER getting off my ban list. They played games for WAY too long with affiliates, now I expect THEM to go a long ways to regain my trust, they will have to work HARD to get my respect after all the work I had to do before they decided to stab me in the back, cut ties with me and steal my content and hard earned money and search engine rankings.

A simple little pig dance statement like the one they said just now about working with the affilaites again FINALLY after MANY months of screwing the affiliates over with no response, sure as hell isn’t going to do it. You know, they made that statement now and not a few months ago because they thought they could just screw the affiliate over and stab them in the back and they thought they could get even more money without the affiliate. They treated us like crap and they wait until NOW when their losses are starting to hurt them. I say the HELL with them, they deserve to go out of business and I can really give a shit what they want to do now, it’s TOO LATE. They will not recover from what they did, they have a bad reputation and I wouldn’t touch them with a 100ft pole. 888.con is just a bunch of con artists, theives and spammers. Their changed work ethics and morality will have to be as lengendary as their giant world class name before they ever change my mind. They are talking the talk, but I don’t see them walking the walk.

Just give them a few months before removing any 888 bans or taking 888 off the rouge lists so they can fix the above problems and their T&C first. The amount of work they have will probably take them a few months to do anyways. There isn’t a big rush, I mean, its not like they got on the ball when we needed help. Like I said just wait a few months, we’re not in a big hurry, just like THEY waited a few months before doing anything for US. :bullshit:

It will encourage them to get to work sooner and build a hard working work ethic that MIGHT just coorelate to their huge name. Get them by the balls and we’ll be rewarded and respected alot more in the future. It will teach them a valuable lesson and it will give them a taste of their own medicine.

So in other words you don’t want to see a resolution suitable for all parties affected by this serious issue?

888 have made a firm commitment by updating their T & C’s of their affiliate program to stamp out scraping, spam etc performed by their rogue affiliates.

Instead you want a war with them instead, judging on your posts above.

    This is a shame.

I would much rather work with them to help eradicate the rogue affiliates from our industry and as long as they hold true to their word. I will be supporting Lou’s positive dialogue with them.

I have also done my bit this afternoon by removing the 888 rogue page on my site. I am not telling others what to do by taking this action. You all must make up your own mind.

This was my own informed choice made after hearing the latest dialogue between Lev and Lou.

I’ve heard them say they were commited to helping the affiliates too many times, that story is getting very old and meaningless and im sick of it.

First of all, THEY declared war on us FIRST, if they wan’t to end a war, they have to do something FIRST, not just say it. I don’t think that was smart to remove your ban on 888 before they even did anything.

I would rather just see them go out of business. They can’t correct a whole serious line of bad things with one little good statement that they didn’t even fulfill yet.

Weren’t you the one who lost about over $80k with 888 because they didn’t pay you? If it was you, thats pretty stupid to advertise them again after what they did, not what you would call a good business decision or getting things done.

Sure they can say they are getting rid of the rouge affiliates and industy spam, but it doesn’t mean they are going to do it, its just the same old thing they said a long time ago, but they just ignored us and nothing got done.

So yes, I will continue to stand by my opinion and the majority and I think it’s dumb to remove any ban off them before they even do anything! They have to perform first.

Just one thing to clarify. I think we both know our positions, so not much point in going over old ground.

Nope not me. I have never ever promoted 888. The only time they have featured on any of my sites is due to them being rogued. I certainly am not going to start promoting them.

We all know the magnitude of this problem, its not going to be solved over night, but I agree 110% with Back in 52′ until we see actual verifiable change we should not remove the rogue pages. To do so based only on the latest statement and terms changes without considering the past history would be irresponsible on our part.

According to onlinecasinoreviewer ecogra has been working on the 888 issue behind the scenes, hearing so many ecogra supporters now pushing to remove 888 rogue pages, I have to agree, they are working on the issue very hard! :sarcasm:

I post as Online Casino Reviewer on Winner Online. We are one and the same :p

I believe the many eCOGRA Supporters you refer to who are removing 888 rogue pages are myself (Webzcas here on CAP) and my other self (OnlineCasinoReviewer over on Winner Online)

Seriously, Axl I meant it when I said:

BTW you are off ignore ;)

I personally think it is a step in the right direction. The problem is finding the scapers, they are all over the place. Mainly under entertainment directories such as Golf, fishing and of course gambling.

I also feel a double progged approach is needed. Scrapers should be reported to google and to 888.com. With the the thousands of domains 888.com owns it will be a tough challenge to weed out all of them.

I would like to also see the scraper links posted on CAP in large quantities per post. This would serve to moniter the progress 888.com is making.

In addition I think it would be fair if 888.com did not line their pockets from scrapers, instead reimburse the affected affilates.

I will wait and see if 888.com really means business, I am perhaps a little optimistic.

I agree, lets see action first. What bothers me is what it took to get 888 to act on this. It took the whole insdustry up in arms to “convince” them to do the right thing. Still, great job to everyone who really fought!
