What does it take to run a successful affiliate marketing campaign?

I’ve also placed this on another forum, but haven’t got enough data yet.

At this moment i’m in the last stage of finishing my bachelor thesis. I’m researching the field of affiliate marketing and how you can set up and run a succesfull affiliate marketing campaign. I’ve set up a short survey and hope you guys can help me to get the information i need to graduate.
