So what is the real story here.
Do these sites particpate in link exchanges or not?
Or are we to believe that it all comes naturally?

The number 3 site listed is also a PR0?
But they always seem to come up a lot on search results.

If blog comments, forum sigs, articles and link directories are dead practises then whats left. The only seeming consensus is ‘good content’. Only one suggestion that comes off the top of my head is guest blogging.

Good Question, because when I see numbers like 4 million links in with only 1500 domains I think that appears very unnatural, yet Google must be rewarding the site for all those links – that doesnt make much sense to me! I wish they would start hammering sites that are working link rings like that.

Was a guy on here a few months ago trying to sell links on a PR 5 site – had a crap load of links in but they were all from a few hundred sites – I said to myself it was only a matter of time before Google smashed his site and it would be a PR 0 … if those reviews are recent I reckon Google still isn’t hitting sites for BS links! Thats pretty sad that the SERPS can be so easily manipulated!

Great questions here, gentlemen… And I can get actuals for you… more to come.

However, a huge takeaway from the findings is that these Backlink Leaders have been focusing on attracting links form well-respected sites, as well as .edu and .gov domains. (Check out the outline on Slide 5.)

And… more info to come…

They get links by having good content (people link to it) and they buy tons of links.

The 3rd site is propbably a PR0 due to a google penalty. It doesn’t seem to affect them too much though.

Some people link to good content because they’ve been told it helps their own reputation. Is this real or just a scam?

Yet again some others ‘quote’ heavily and rewrite so they can at least appear legit by giving proper credit.

If they buy lots of links it should be easy for google to find it out by sending some broker to their website. Does google really care or do they ‘look the other way’ when sites with actual good quality do it.

And why would the government or real schools want to link to a casino site? Cautioning about the ‘evils of gambling’ (or in one case the wizard of odds) sure, but why mention casino games for any other reason.

There is more to it than just having good content and nice people linking to it.

I think the later is much more likely when you start talking about the volume – eg millions of links from a relatively small comparative percentage of linking domains.

Its really no secret that many that have dominated the SERPS that last few years have been some of the biggest link buyers in the business – heck GPWA . AGD, CAP link to some of these notorius link buyers and google was supposed to be against buying links to rank. ROFL!
