Should I use this SEO and how much should I pay?

SamChapman asked 3 years ago
Hi Guys,

I came across a guy who it seems has got sites on page 1 of google for some competitive keywords.( not gambling related sites ) He is himself on page one for ‘search engine optimisation’ . I have spoken to some of his clients that all sing his praises. He tells me he can’t guaranteed page 1 for keyword ‘online casino’ but is quietly confident he can do it.
Most SEO’s tell me to go for less competitive keywords but this guy breaks the mould as says concentrate on the keyword you want. What do you think? Also what should I pay for SEO? I’ve read a lot of people saying it’s impossible without a huge budget. This SEO quote seams reasonable.

Thanks for your help guys but if what i’ve just heard is true I’d might as well forget about it. I just spoke to an SEO who says that online casinos pay around £100,000 a year and a £5 million bonus for page one listings! I’m not sure what to make of that! What do you think?

It’s quite possible, yes.

SEO learned from other industries is pretty useless in the kind of competitive environment we have here.

Forget about reputation and his sites ranking well. bottom line is did he give you a portfolio of clients he has ranked well for. This is what proves an seo’s worth. My seo takes 50% down and he delivers with integrity and his goal is always googles top 10, but for the seo you hired to take your content off shows me that he is a low life who you should have sued or at least written a review for. I like webmasterworld but seochat isnt a place i would look for high integrity for seo’s as they seem to run an old boys groupie system. Also your seo could have hired a subcontractor seo to get his site up into the top. Bottom line is get his portfolio, call up his clients
and make sure he doesnt have a cold streak in his heart. Not only did he not deliver but he took your content off??????
Do you live in the usa and does this seo live in the usa?
If so you can take him to small claims court, win a decision then hire a judgment reovery specialist.

Many years ago i hired an seo who said he would build and seo a certain site for me into goolges top 20. We he created the site but never seo’ed the site and left me hanging with a shell on my hands. All of my collection agency friends said i could win a decision but could never collect on it.

Well i took it to small claims court and won but couldnt find a way to collect on it. Well out of the blue a judgment collection specialist called me up and said he bought the lead to my case from someone so i decided to let him try as he didnt charge me anything but took 50% of the judgment. The crazy part was this guy was awesome and got the guy to settle with me in a few weeks.

Dont let this go. If you need the contact info of the judgment recovery specialist, pm me and i will give it to you.
Man i feel for you because i have been through it.
Good luck

quote=kwblue;155973]I learned my lesson the hard way…

I found a guy who was VERY prominent on the SEO boards. I didn’t find him there, but another way. However, he wrote many articles for some of the biggest websites (including webmasterworld and seochat).

He had a good record at helping out websites and a good name in the SEO industry overall. His websites, too, were ranking in the top 10 for SEO terms (seo optimization, search engine optimization, etc..)

We had a deal that I felt was advantageous to me… that deal was something like this: He had to rank me in the top 3 on Google AND Yahoo for a set of 5 phrases. I would pay him 50% to start and 50% ONLY if he got me ranked as was stated in the contract.

He changed around my site(s) to be more SEO-friendly…. Couldn’t get them ranked in the manner he was supposed to, but wanted the last 50% anyway.

One day, I went to change content on one of my sites… and it was completely removed (all page he downloaded and zipped up for himself and removed from the server).

He kept them hostage until we discussed payments again. In the end, he agreed that I was right, but still wanted 1/2 of the remaining 50%.

I learned my lesson, learned SEO, and do it all myself now.[/quote]
