SandBox question???

rtb1980 asked 3 years ago
I have a few casino domain names bu am only developing one.

I thought maybe I could park them for a year or so untill they are out of the sandbox then develop..

Will my URLs, being parked, be let out of the sandbox eventually??
Or do I have to actually have a site there.

That is a good point M.D. with the level of competition for terms in this industry, it would take a year to get ranked on Google anyway (for any decent keywords). When starting a new site, take the year or so and build links, then by the time you are released from the sandbox you will have the rankings and the traffic.

BTW, we are at 10+ months in the sandbox so far.

I launched a new site (non gambling related) 2 weeks ago, got a handfull of incoming links pointing to it and within a week it was listed in Google.
Top 10 rankings on all primary keywords.

Can somebody explain that?

Maybe the keywords are not all that popular? Google, from what I understand, only sandboxes for competetive terms.

It’s by far not as competitive as gambling but still…….

Results 1 – 10 of about 369,000 for amstaff.

nr7 in one week for a new site is not bad (i wish i was that succesfull with my gambling sites).

It’s the keywords for sure!! Your most popular keyword only has 2,090,000 results on google and your least popular has a mere 109,000…..

Where as keywords like online casino produced 26,000,000 results.

I’m sure that’s what it is

It would be nice to know wich keywords will get you in the sandbox and wich not.

Any ideas anyone?

Remco, you may not have been put into the sandbox yet. The way it works is that a new site gets indexed first by Google, then 2-3 weeks later Google places the sandbox filter on the competitive keywords you are trying to rank for. Then the waiting period to emerge from the sandbox. If the keywords aren’t deemed that competitive by Google, then you will continue to rank for those. Our site which was sandboxed back in January has always ranked well for a dozen or so non-competitive terms, some by luck and others by design.

PR has nothing to do with the sandbox period. I’ve seen sites as high as PR6 that are still in the sandbox. The amount of effort and time it takes to reach a PR6 would probably be the amount of time the probationary period is set for in most cases.

The easiest way to check if you are in the sandbox is to do an allinanchor search (allinanchor:my keyword phrase) on GG for your targeted keyword and compare that to your actual rankings in GG. The allinanchor: should be within 10 or 20 spots of your actual ranking. To give you an idea, one of my keywords is:

allinanchor = 47
actual ranking = >700

A simple place to check this without having to wade through the SERPs yourself is the McDar Datacenter Quick Check tool at:
http://www.mcdar.net/q-check/datatool.asp

Another way you can tell is by your Yahoo and MSN rankings as compared to GG. For the same keyword:

GG = >700
Yahoo = 11
MSN = 10

That normal measures catch up to sites after a while then through fixing what’s wrong your site rises.

Freepokerleague, you seem to be suggesting there are simple triggers to release your site from the sandbox. If you know what these triggers are, please share as I would desperately like to be out of the sandbox.

Free Poker League,

I’m sure your not stupid. I’m sure none of us are. (Stupid)

There may even be a few geniuses among us (Proffesor)

Let’s aim this discussion back towards the SEO’s.:shooter:

Who has a good site reccomendation where I can go and see if I have been sandboxed???? I found one site but you have to join 3 different things to even check, hmmmmm. Sounds kinda shady to me.

Also is it possible to maintain a PR 1 or greater and still be in the sandbox???
