Have a look at this:

I am unsure as to how this will affect us…

dust off that old blogspot you haven’t done anything with in 3 years and start posting everyday

You think the most recent will end up on top?

I played a bit and I see how long tail keywords may be a good thing here. The suggested sites keep having longer tails with every letter you add, and they seem to get more relevant. I would assume that most searchers will go for the most relevant – or will they abscond with the first somewhat relevant result (short tail) ?

I have a blog for horse racing picks. I was posting everyday for about 3 weeks (about 6 months ago) with no results. Then all of a sudden BAM top 5 (if not number 1) in about 30 seconds after I posted.

Now this is daily horse picks, but none the less the page being top 5 for anything is pretty good when you have some heavy hitters with the same keyword phrase

Will you be top 5 for ‘best online casinos”? NO but if you can figure out a nice little nitch you might have some fantastic results

As affiliates i think we need to be very aware of how this can effect our search traffic.

There may not be any big changes early on (its not even default in the uk yet) but as time goes on users will learn to use it how google intends.

This can have some big issues if you have high ranking pages for highly profitable key words.

For example… say you rank for free bingo online and you are making plenty of bucks through people typing that exact term

Say people get to the o and google suggests they want offers – you could get a % of “your” traffic leaving here and going to the guy who ranks for free bingo offers.

I think this has been inevitable for a while, but you really have to be top of fold page one now for whatever search people end up with and as time goes on it looks like thats going to be longer and longer tail.

When google puts more emphasis into its algorithms for time on page and back button usage, then those of us who havent given up on “content is king” will be reaping the rewards again. Blak hats, your time is running out!

Let’s hope that happens!

The other problem is (if people actually know how to change search settings) it can only do 10 at a time. If you change your settings to 100 results – first off it won’t do it – it will only do 10

I find this new search extremely annoying.
Is there a way to turn it off yet?

Shotgunpete answered 3 years ago
Yes, you can turn it off in ‘search settings’ – go to

Google Instant

Use Google Instant — predictions and results appear while typing
Do not use Google Instant
