Gambling during Christmas

alexpratt asked 3 years ago
I would be interested to know how do you find Christmas affects your player activity and earnings? I am also interested where the activity peaks, i.e. do you find players play a lot on Boxing day, christmas eve or even christmas day.

And

Do you carry out specific campaigns for this traffic? If so what kinds of things?

Hi Alex

As a UK Sports Betting focused site, Boxing day is one of the busiest days in the year of course – also the Saturday after (this year the two days run next to each other so a busy couple of days) and New Years day is also packed full of sporting events.

With no horse racing in the UK on 23rd/24th December (so the hard working betting shop folk can have a little rest) – these are quieter days and normally there are no major football fixtures on these days either as most teams play boxing day.

So very quiet in the few days leading up to Christmas day then it gets really busy boxing day onwards for a few days – by then folks seem to be bored of family and a break from punting and want to get right back into it!!

Overall the month suffers a bit becuase the quiet period in the run up to Christmas and lots of people taking leave from work -people spending less time on line and more time socialising in general.

We dont have huge casino/gaming traffic but I did notice a decent amount of bingo and casino activity on Christmas day last year – I guess sadly there are lots of people who spend Christmas day alone.

Things do seem a bit quiet at the moment, there is quite a bit of activity from current players, but not had many new players recently

Christmas time is usually dead for me, but January has constantly been my best month year after year <span title=” title=”” class=”bbcode_smiley” />

December has always been a great month for me can’t really judge this year with the Microgaming pull out.

As Richard says above …

Christmas is great for sports, both in Europe and also the College football BOWL games. It seems a lot of people just “have” to put money on their old school winning the TV covered game.

A great traditional for sports webmasters to encourage.

My experience is it picks up Christmas night and goes good the last week. and January is usually pretty good.

Visitor numbers are lower than usual but some good christmas promotions have attracted regular players.

I’m surprised to see that some people see a decrease in the visitor numbers.

I always see a big increase in december and january. Mainly pokerplayers, but also casinoplayers.
