A bit contradictory, so guessing you meant something along the lines of what Dominque said. Aging and gaining quality links are definitely part of SEO. Defnitely no shortcuts though.

I made a reference to the on page SEO.
Title, tags, headings, alt tags, bold, density etc etc.
No so important nowadays.

Aging and links are quite important (Off page SEO) .

Regarding megasites I can see that in several industries, old sites with 1000’s of pages are doing better than others.

No doubt. What I was saying is that they slowly grew to be such big sites, and that is what makes them authority sites.

The time spent on growth is a factor, not just the size of the site.

Neither age without growth nor growth without age are going to make for a stable site by themselves.

I am talking about stability, not bobbing up and down the searchengines.

Yes.

Not in this industry due the recent events, but my next and last moving is to build ONE megasite during the next 5 years.

A guy with a 10 basic pages new website an 100k to buy links, at glance could be a challenger for a mature site.
But the SE’s knows this.
Links can be achieved artificially or by hiring a manager.

Quality and sticky content will remain for ever.
And maybe after the Google kingdom .
