Warren asked 3 years ago
What is the best overall CMS? Lots of options are available with seemingly new platforms available weekly.

Best CMS is the CMS that you know better. I vote for other/custom, because i use one customised CMS (by me )

Did you customise the CMS from an open-source platform or build it from scratch? What do you feel are the advantages from having a CMS built from scratch?

Joomla offers a lot more flexibility than word press and it free to use as it uses open source.

Never used Drupal so I would be interested how easy this is.

I moved away from Joomla to WP, but think both have their pro’s and cons. I feel that WP does a better job with the SEO and marketing plugins, and developers for WP are a lot easier to find.

WordPress is evolving from blogging software to a full blown CMS. The great thing is that google loves (more than their own blogging software) and and its generally very easy to use.

We also have a site running on drupal, which is a great system, but has a steep learning curve. Tehre is always a problem finding someone to make changes to the website, so it has been a bad choice for us. If you got a geek programmer, then go for drupal, otherwise its not worth it

Joomla is also a good CMS, but WordPress is quickly catching up and imho its the best solution for making smaller sites under 50 pages.

Custom is the best way if you can afford it or are a skilled coder.
