Affiliate Tracking, What Do You Prefer?

Mark_32Red asked 3 years ago
Hi Everyone,

I am not sure if you have seen the threads regarding the tracking at 32Red, there is a link at the bottom of this post, but it’s started a bit of a debate and I would love to hear your opinion.

Currently, when you first visit 32Red, any affiliate ID passed is stored in a cookie. This is not overwritten like some other tracking cookies. So lets say you visit http://www.somecasinosite.com, click to 32Red and do not register – then go to http://www.anothersite.com, click a different banner, visit 32Red and register – the original affiliate will be credited with the commission.

Our opinion is, whoever made the customer aware that 32Red exists, should be rewarded. But some people disagree – are we wrong?

It would be good to get some feedback, hopefully if we can get enough feedback on this I might be able to convince our developers that it needs changing.

Thanks in advance.

Mark

I would say 1st referrer has been tried and tested already, and is a proven failure unless you are directly benefiting from unethical practices.

If you want to throw 1st referrer a bone by getting a lead, feel free.

A salesman who only says hello is not a salesman.

The one who closes the deal, closes the deal, he/she has made the sale.

Affiliates package the product in a different manner. The ones who make the sale are the ones plant the seed in the consumers head and drive the player to signup.

I find it shocking that 32Red still need a poll for this kind of feedback.

For a start, the affiliates might be offering different deals. One may be promoting omaha to make the sale, the other texas holdem. The one who closes the sale is probably the one with the omaha content targeting an omaha player.

1st referrer has probably not offered 32Red in a manner which appeals to the player. The last referrer has probably catered to their needs.

The 1st referrer is only concentrating on getting the initial click. NOTE – no quality requirement.

The last referrer has tried to accommodate for the player and designed an appropriate package to cater for their needs.

The 1st referrer might be promoting Last years WSOP freeroll. The last referrer is more likely to be promoting 32Reds current promotion.

Unethical practices should be enough to convince 32Red that first referrer is a no go area.

If not, read my explanations above.

6 people voted for 1st referrer? But they are not too vocal on this issue. Probably the reason for this is they would struggle to justify their vote in a forum.

Sorry for the long post but I just cant see why 32Red are sticking to their guns on this issue.

This is not directly directed to 32Red, but they are the only site I know on the internet and offline who believe 1st referrer is best.

I thought Referback is using 1st referrer as well? I am also wondering why the minority of those who voted took a hit and run approach to this rather than taking the time to plead for 1st referrer if they think it’s that great. :sarcasm:

Referback uses sessions.

Of those that voted in favor of first-referrer, I think GamTrak would probably change her vote if she could. When she found out that cookie stuffing is possible (in another thread), she said that she favored the last referrer instead.

32Red, how long will the poll go on before you make a decision? Just curious.

I think I know why you think that, it’s a bit confusing.

Referback uses sessions like Engineer said, but they assign a player that signs up to the referring affiliate account and the player stays there, even if he switches casinos within the group. So they do credit the affiliate who first signed the player for referback with all of that player’s play, regardless of casino.

However, with sessions, the last affiliate to bring the player to Referback for signup gets the player.

I hope that makes sense, it’s two different processes, it’s what happens before signup and what happens after signup.
