LOL well If I ever did pay $500 bucks for a convention, I’d want to get all I could out of it.
September 13, 2004 at 1:39 am #654955AnonymousInactiveThe best reason I can think of going is because it’s a tax deductible vacation.
If you know anything about internet marketing, then no you wont learn anything from the speeches. None of us are ignorant on how to select keywords for pay per click bidding. Furthermore, we all know how to do SEO better than most SEO companies.
The other benefit is getting to meet people, and sometimes you gather that little bit of insight into something that has the potential of earning you a lot of cash.
You also have the opportunity of discovering for yourself the personalities of affiliate managers and who seems honest. I for one liked Slotland’s management, Meanwhile I found the Gambling Federation reps to be more interested in flirting with hired models than talking to affiliates.

September 13, 2004 at 1:44 am #654956AnonymousGuestIf I’m not mistaken, you’ll get your money’s worth in freebies alone. Free drinks, free meals, that kind of thing.
That’s the way I heard it. :p
September 13, 2004 at 1:47 am #654957AnonymousInactivebb1webs: A wwhois search on your domain said Charlotte, NC. Yup, KC to LAS is $230 per person on Orbitz, with 1 stop (ughhh). Sounds like you’re better off driving
Arkyt: I had Google, Overture, and a slew of companies present at this event. Obviously Google won’t present in today’s climate.
As for Alexa….jeez  Arkyt …. Do you know who they are? I hope so. Did you see the topic he’s discussing? It’s been nearly impossible for me to line up Bruce Gilliat.
I had 2 options in designing speaker slots:
(OPTION 1) Get all the affiliate managers to get up there and explain why you should join their affiliate program. So, basically you would hear ‘commercials,’ one after the other, on affiliate programs.
(OPTION 2) Have various EXPERTS in marketing around the internet to talk about what works and what doesn’t work in advertsing for a casino and sportsbook. Their talks will be NEUTRAL and OBJECTIVE and they are not allowed to be sales pitches.
I selected Option 2 when designing this event.
As I said, there are affiliates out there that claim to “know it all” and don’t need to sit in on any of the lectures. In those cases, I think the event is not for them. (Some of them decide to come anyway and stand outside the event though, while everyone else is inside. They look pretty funny and actually surprised to find out that we have employed security guards for the event).
Lastly, the name “Affiliate” in Casino Affiliate Convention is a misnomer. The intention was to get hundreds of affiliates. My point earlier on this thread about the taxi fare is true. In fact, affiliates are the MINORITY attending the event. Most of the attendance are casino operators and their marketing staff. That’s why we have an additional name for the event (Gaming Marketing Conference).
This is the 4th consecutive event and the 2nd event in Las Vegas. The event is well established at this time and its reputation is well known. Just call around the industry and ask.

http://www.CasinoAffiliateConvention.comSeptember 13, 2004 at 2:09 am #654959AnonymousInactiveArkyt had asked what affiliate programs are coming:
Lets start with who is exhibiting:
http://www.cac2004.com/sponsors-lasvegas-2004.php
Partnerlogic (Intercasino) – Platinum Sponsor
Casino Pays (Club Dice) – Gold Sponsor
Genie Knows – Silver SponsprCasino Blasters (Golden Palace)
Pacific Poker (Casino On Net)
SBG Global
Sportingbet – (1st Tiime Exhibiting IN THIS INDUSTRY)
Vegas Affiliates
Money Mechanic (Piggs Peak)BetGameDay – Beer Sponsor
The Bingo Affiliates – Portal Sponsor
Casino Coins – Camera SponsorI have a rule….I do NOT list companies or names of people that registered for this event. What I can tell you is that all the MAJOR casinos and affiliate programs will be at this event.
And, the CAC event was the first time both Golden Palace and Casino On Net had ever exhibited in this industry, let alone in the USA. I’m proud of that fact.
Lastly, Gambling Federation had models at an event in Vancouver some years ago. They never hired models at the Amsterdam or Vegas events and the people that worked the events always were very much attentive to affiliates. In Amsterdam, they didn’t go to lunch and manned the booth.
September 13, 2004 at 2:21 am #654960AnonymousInactivePartnerlogic (Intercasino) – DONT PROMOTE THEM
Casino Pays (Club Dice) – BIG TIME SHAVERS
Genie Knows – DONT PROMOTE THEMCasino Blasters – DONT PROMOTE THEM
Pacific Poker – DONT PROMOTE THEM
SBG Global – DONT PROMOTE THEM
Sportingbet – DONT PROMOTE THEM
Vegas Affiliates – JUST JOINED LAST WEEK
Money Mechanic – DONT PROMOTE THEMBetGameDay – DONT PROMOTE THEM
The Bingo Affiliates – DONT PROMOTE THEM
Casino Coins – SHAVERS AS WELLAnd YES I know who Alexa are and what they are not.
I understand several other programs will also be in attendace and that a lot of affiliates will go to Vegas to meet with associates and affiliate programs without attending the “conference” – all in all its a great excuse to play rounder for a few days
See ya there …
September 13, 2004 at 3:39 am #654961AnonymousInactiveArkyt, while you may not promote many of the exhibitors, many that attend actually do promote them. They chose to exhibit because they want you to get to know them as well. They are making an investment in the event to meet new and existing affiliates. Some have exhibited at every CAC event since inception.
For ones that you have a problem with, then this is a great opportunity to meet them face-to-face and settle any differences you may have.
Look forward to seeing you there.

http://www.CasinoAffiliateConvention.comSeptember 14, 2004 at 12:54 am #654977AnonymousInactiveBB1,
I would love to go paying only $1000 including travel and rego fee. From where I am that $1000 gets me about 3/4 of the way to vegas. Go and enjoy yourself!
September 14, 2004 at 3:32 pm #655001AnonymousInactiveAny affiliate who makes the majority of their income from our industry should attend. Don’t we all do test advertising all the time that is well over $500.
I am not as worried about the show entry fee which I agree is reasonable but a bad run on one of the poker tables.
Another benefit from these shows is that it gets me pumped up on the business just chatting with others so I am more productive when I return.
Looking forward to seeing you all there, I too am staying at the Excaliber for convienance sake but will be taking the tram several times to visit with my aff friends at Mandalay Bay.

September 14, 2004 at 10:39 pm #655024AnonymousInactiveIslandman, I agree.
For those of you never at this event before, get ready for ONE thing to be discussed:
REVENUE
Because that is all that is discussed. How to get more traffic, more conversions, how to make more cash and where the deals are for cheap advertising and good click throughs.
Even in the evening, at 3 AM when the hallways are quiet in the Excalibur, affiliates and casino operators are talking about how to make more $$. Its 48 straight hours of serious business talk. (I’m not counting the mud-wrestling competition )
The people that attend this event are the sharpest knives in the breadbox when it comes to internet marketing and online casinos. Even the interactive marketing executives know this. Often, they come to learn from you as well. Just as an example, Alexa is dying to hear your opinions and suggestions.
