It is difficult to believe that yet again we as an affiliate community have to deal with yet another instance where affiliate programs are trying to retroactively put in changes like this.

    A deal is a deal.

If the promise of commissions for life was too generous or created too much burden it shouldn’t have been made in the first place.

For better or for worse contracts must be honored and not changed retroactively.

It doesn’t matter if another program is making retroactive changes or not it still doesn’t make it ok.

I wonder how many affiliate programs would bank with a bank that said “because you have not brought any new deposits in the last 3 months you will forfeit your balance” with the explanation from the bank that “to cover our expenses we really need new deposits”.

And in a nutshell Tovey has summed it up perfectly.

It’s plainly inappropriate – it’s predatory – and the given excuse of “trying to reduce the expense of small payouts” is pathetic. That’s like using napalm to kill a few pesky mosquitos.

As has already been posted here – a legitimate and appropriate way to handle the payout expenses would be to simply raise the minimum payout levels for expensive payment methods.

    Everyone could understand that.

Some kind of reply here would be good Simon, I should have yanked banners the min I read this breech of contract but I have decided to wait a day or so to see what happens, your lack of a response tells me your not going to change this, I am not shocked really, I figured this sort of behavior would start after black Friday from our so called “partners” I just didn’t think it would start this soon.
I really hope you all sit at the round table over at VIP and crunch the numbers, find out how much this is really going to cost you, because believe me it will be A LOT! We affiliates stand together we have to when it comes to programs like yours.

    My affiliate friends,

I agree with you all and stand with you, as a webmaster… however…

Simon and Mario have always done right by us, as far back as I can remember. They absolutely need to respond on this issue, but don’t take their current silence as indifference… not just yet.

Silence could also mean board meetings with higher-ups… developing a new strategy… satisfying our concerns… and doing some damage control.

For now, maybe we can assume that’s what’s taking place.

Thank you all again for your feedback.

I’m sorry I keep seeing incorrect interpretations when I explained this earlier in this thread.
    Maybe I was not clear.

This clause is not meant to jeopardize any existing affiliate relationships, or future ones for that matter.
For any of you that have worked with us over the years, I know that our reputation speaks for itself.

There is no retroactive change/ enforcement intended.
Any campaign in the VIP Profits system that was created prior to this rule change being announced falls under the terms that were in place at that time.

Any new campaigns created after the announcement of the change will fall under the new T&Cs. This update will be announced this week by email.
Again, it will be handled on a case by case basis.

Any new affiliates wishing to join, or existing affiliates looking for clarification on where they stand, please contact us directly for clarification.

This update was posted to the VIP Profits website late last week and intended to be announced in our weekly newsletter this week.

I have surely learned from your feedback and agree we should have let you know this update was coming, prior to making it live on the website.

However, again, the intention is NOT to heavily enforce this and affiliates that are consistent in their efforts, have nothing to worry about.

If you wish to give this your own interpretation, I cannot help that.

VIP Profits has been around for almost 4 years now and has always had a solid reputation, treating affiliates fairly and honoring their value.

We will continue being that solid program.

Did you mean “any affiliate contract” or “any campaign” ?

And if the affiliate decides that they don’t want to take any chances and take down the sites but still would like their earnings they signed up to receive for life from you, what would your intentions be? I am sorry but I am hear to say I do not and will not abide by your retroactive changes, and yes, they are retroactive Mario no matter how you paint the picture.

Unless your ‘new’ T&C’s are altered to reflect the fact that yorur T&C’s are NOT retro-active – they are left open to interpretation, which is bad.

Maybe all affiliates should send you an email stating that their revshare deal should be changed to 75%. Then send you a bill.

Just got the VIP newsletter –

    Changes in Terms and Conditions

VIP Profits has recently updated the terms and conditions and we kindly ask all affiliates to take a few moments and familiarize yourself with these changes.

Some changes have already been discussed in our forums and for those that would like to react or have additional suggestions, please feel free to post them in this dedicated thread or of course send us an email.

    Guess this is their response.

Unless the new terms and conditions specifically state these changes do not apply to existing affiliates, they can and will apply to everyone. I don’t see how it could be any other way. And I would like a definition of the term ‘campaign’ as it’s used in the explanation made by Mario.

Im not sure about this. Personally, I have talked to Simon and Mario via a couple of times and they seem like good guys and all. But this change is disturbing. Nine.com was one of my favorite sportsbooks to promote, but somethings that have happened are making me wonder. If its not saying they dont carry over negatives for 25+ users; when actually they do. Now it’s this change. Not sure what to think.

Frankly Simon/Mario.. What a damn stupid rule to write down for apparent decent aff people. Forget that other shite firms have the term.

    # Once I advertise your firm, I am in for life or I lose my previous work? Who told you any of these folk will even be running sites, or promoting gambling atall by the morning. I ain’t. What a psuedo mafioso thing you guys expound.

I don’t care about your $15 dollar cheque problem either. You made $45 every time anyhow. Think laterally and don’t be silly. Stick the small money in a betting account like you did for me before I stopped adverting because of the VIP/Adware thing – simple.

And don’t tell me you put the rule there, “but don’t worry, we’ll not enforce on anyone“. It’s there, that’s all that is needed to know. I am not a complete mug and you are not complete idiots.

This is what happens when you sell up to the corporates.

We gave them a few days to respond, they have responded with this mass email to affiliates, and they are sticking to the breech of contract, no idea what you all plan to do but they are coming off all our sites as of today!

This is complete BS if this program gets by with doing this there are going to be many sure to follow, where is all the outrage here folks?
