InactiveIf it has links to websites that accept bets and wagers than it has illegal content per the “Safe Port Act” – Yes, I know…it’s a load of :bullshit:

InactiveProfessor wrote:Under the new law they will be required to do exactly that CMOS I must repeat that they did it in Italy this year! The government was blocking all the Ip’s but nothing was changed! We can reach now almost all the operators from new sites, and all the codes are automatically redirected to the new pages.Do you want an example? Ok…try this one (i post the links only as an example, obliviously you can remove it):
In Italy i can’t reach http://www.europacasino.com because all the local internet providers have the obbligation to block it, I only can see a white spot where is written that this site is illegal. Otherwise I’m able to reach http://www.europeitalia.com without problems and all my linking codes (even the oldest) are redirecting on that site when the geo targeting determine that the visit is from Italy. I take the example of Casino PArtners because this group have the highest presence in Italy and they didn’t lost it at all since 10 months from the law, I only want to understand the Credit Card potential problems for USA, maybe this should be a bigger problem.

Dont know about your government, but you dont want to be going against uncle sam, he will stiff you in a minute.

InactiveWell and what is the case if you have a .com domain with links to gambling, but the domain is hosted outside US? In that case you are not having business in the US. Is it possible to lose the domain?

vladcizsolMemberYes it is as .com is a US based registrar.

InactiveWhat about the .info domains
Can not remember if the org behind .info is US based or not.Regarding .com domains maybe the lawyers in the following weeks may explain this.
My guess is that if the bill is not stating the illegality of net gambling , which is the problem to use those extensions to promete the gamble in europe/asia etc.

I didn’t change nothing on my links, it’s the casino group that do everything and the companies are regulated inside theirs country not in Italy, Usa or another stupid nation like thats! Of course, this is not legal but it wasn’t legal at all even before the new bill in USA, the only change is that now they are going to put a specific law with some provediments like the banning of the sites. Uncle Sam has started to breaking some balls all around the world since a long time ago, Italy does not have any influence to the rest of the nations around the world but USA can be a big problem for everyone if they want to make a model for the rest of humanity, I hope that one day something will change or I will planning to go to live in north pole…October 2, 2006 at 4:38 pm #708587Anonymous

InactiveI always thought that .com was generic and didn’t belong to any particular country, I suppose if that is true then the USA also owns .org, .info, .biz etc
I wouldn’t be at all surprised to find out that they also own .co.uk LOL

InactiveWouldn’t get too worked up about TLD extensions. If they were specifically targeted with legislation, the weirdo porn and antisocial sites out there would have been legislated against on that front a long time ago.

InactiveThe US Department of Justice has, in the past, shutdown websites that they deemed to be violating us laws. Sites that hosted bit torrent trackers, or sold mod chips for xbox and playstation games have been shutdown and had their domains seized.
Remember, the domain name system’s root server is located in Virginia so they can and have already demonstrated that they will do whatever the hell they want to do.
our sites may look like this in a few months

Organizational Structure and Background
Afilias Limited is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland with U.S. offices near Philadelphia, PA, sales offices in London, UK, an operations center in Toronto Canada, and operational offices in New Delhi, India.Afilias was formed in September of 2000 by a group of industry leading domain name registrars in recognition of the need for increased competition in the domain name industry at the registry level. Afilias was selected by ICANN in November of 2000 to launch .INFO, the first new gTLD domain supported by EPP and based on a “thick” registry model. INFO remains the most successful new gTLD launched since .COM.
Looks like .info (afilias) is not US based

Online gambling was banned before last black friday and they did nothing regarding all the casino and poker and other gambling domain names such as casino.com(1000’s other others as well) which is clearly a .com advertising gambling to US people.

InactiveBefore everyone gets overly concerned about the US blocking access to sites, I doubt strongly this will be effective. Remember the US are ones who told China to allow their citizens greater access to information, and remove the national firewall.
All very confusing and I could not expect anything else from a two faced country such as the US. In essense they are nothing more than bullies and we are kneeling when they say kneel.
