I voted in the early polls to ensure my vote was counted. If you havent voted yet PLEASE GO NOW. Dont wait till the end of the day. Lines WILL be long you dont want to be cut off and lose the chance to help us take America back from the far right wing nuts who are destroying this country.

InactiveStanding in line is sorta fun so long as its not too long of a wait. Playing the role of people watcher is very entertaining.
Been watching CNN since noon – it looks like its going to be another 2000×4 – lets hope its landslide so all the BS wont matter!

vladcizsolMemberOnly 17% of the youth bothered going to the polls. Of people under 30 I believe the figure was still only 27% so when they get drafted they better not complain about it.
I am disgusted with America today.

I agree, Professor!! It’s unfortunate, but they will have to learn the same way we learned, the hard way. It’s also unfortunate that many still have not learned anything. Snake-oil salesmen are still able to convince people to look the other way, while they pull off their con jobs.
I still can’t figure why people think a man who can’t be bothered to go to his own daughters graduations, or a man who will go on vacation while his own child is still in a recovery room, will give a damn about any of their kids?? Why a man who did everything he could to dodge serving his country in war, is qualified to lead a nation at war?? A man who lied to start a war, will tell them the truth, but yet they trust their lives and livelihoods to him.

InactiveI am a bit surprised. I thought Kerry would make it. I thought more people would oppose a senseless war.
Kerry is to speak an hour from now – or one of his people is.
Unfortunately a lot of people voted for local issues but withheld the vote for president. That is never a good idea.
It is bad news all around – but I do not think that it will affect our industry all that much. We will just have to play the same stupid games another four years. We have survived years of attempts to pass a law against online gaming – the good people who have supressed these laws year after year through expensive lobbying will continue to do so.
Unfortunately this means one thing – 4 more years of the same.
But perhaps as far as our industry is concerned – there are a lot of very smart people working on solutions. The recent vote in the UK is very good news for us – doubtlessly some US politicians will continue to pursue the matter of regulation.
Overall our industry has made some progress this year – the Casino City lawsuit and the discussions of regulation are very positive steps.
While the Casino City suit will be stalled over and over again, it is pretty much guaranteed to win. It will likely take a year to do so.
Discussion of regulation has started, and will doubtlessly be spurred on by the UK decision.
So, all is not lost – quite the opposite. It is just more of an uphill battle.

InactiveThis is indeed bad news and it goes far beyond this industry. Even ignoring the war and all the chaos that has been caused by it I can barely find a handful of positive changes that Bush has undertaken. I think the only prositive from him was a 25 billion package to fight aids, but knowing the republicans that was probably for publicity purposes and less than 10% is actually going to be given. I dont think anyone needs me to list the negatives.
On the other hands, what the hell were the democrats thinking in having Kerry run. How difficult would it have been to find another bill clinton, or someone that people can actually relate to. Either way, I dont understand how anyone can justify voting for Bush.
Very dissapointed in america today too.

InactiveI am very dissapointed in the American people today also. So many do not do their research into the recent past so as to make a intelligent decision. It is a sad day for America.

GuestThe whole country took an extreme turn to the right (except for my homies in Illinois). I personally feel we are in very dangerous territory because the republican gains were by very very conservative republicans. Not moderates. Mostly right wing christian types. We are approaching a theocracy.
My dad is an old time republican and he said he has never voted so passionately against a republican in his life than he did yesterday against Bush. He’s really really upset.
I know some of you disagree, and I was hoping that a Kerry victory would allow the real truth about this administration to come out in February or so. Because I truly believe people will be shocked years from now when they look back.

GuestIt doesn’t seem possible.
I know of a few died-in-the-wool republicans that were passionately against Bush. I know others who hadn’t voted in a few elections that voted yesterday to get Bush out. How did he win?
Why did the democrats put Kerry to run? Who could tell him apart from any republican, and who can relate to Mr. Heinz from Yale?
And, like Amateur said:
Quote:I still can’t figure why people think a man who can’t be bothered to go to his own daughters graduations, or a man who will go on vacation while his own child is still in a recovery room, will give a damn about any of their kids?? A man who lied to start a war, will tell them the truth, but yet they trust their lives and livelihoods to him.— and yet the exit polls showed that the 2nd most important issue to Bush supporters was moral values!!
It doesn’t make any sense.
Up here, we’re all wandering around the house, muttering “how is it possible?”

InactiveIt’s the right wing christians and all the churches. Bush was the first to break the division of church and state and made state funds available to churches. That is what gave him the advantage.
