GuestI just HAVE to say that you don’t HAVE to have the key words in the domain name – it helps a wee bit, but it isn’t the end-all.
I’m doing rather well in the Texas Holdem arena on google, although the site is casinogeek.net……….as well as other key phrases whose words are not in my domain name.
For $175,000.00 i could BUY more traffic than I’d know what to do with.
For that matter, for $175,000, I could take joespizza.com and get to the top of google for “online casino” and whatever other search phrases I like many times over, by hiring people to do grunt work.
For $175,000.00 I could buy an established portal with decent traffic, built-in revenue and have money left over to market it very effectively.
For $8.95 i can get a decent casino domain name and blow the rest on marketing and be way ahead of just a domain name alone.
Maybe whoever has been making offers is a nasty dipshit who’s yankin your chains.

++++++++++++++++++I can’t get inside the guy’s head to know all his thoughts, but he is for real; he is very very very deep pocketed. I really have no problems with him, negotiations have just stalled.

This domain name is worth something, but nowhere near what you want.
But then there is a different way to look at it. What is it worth, versus what will someone pay for it. If some dope paid ten million dollars for it, that doesn’t it really make it worth ten million dollars.
1-online-casino.com is not the same as online-casino.com
If you turned down 55,000 you need your head examined. Anyone who offered that needs a proctologist because that is where their head is at.

InactiveI just did a search on yahoo, and not one of the first 5 listings have either the word online or casino for the search term online casino. Maybe once google gets out of its spammy stage the same will be reflected there.

I’m going to have to remember that one, I’m sure it’ll come in handy someday.

I guess it depends what your preference is. Would you rather a search engine that tweaks its results in the hope of improving relevance… or would you rather the google type that plucks websites out of search engines.
I would prefer the first.

GuestSpeaking of Yahoo…what gives with their search results?
I looked at a smattering of top sites in depth, and they had neither keyword rich content nor many backlinks to speak of…….May 6, 2004 at 11:29 am #648912Anonymous

InactiveOK Classics – Ill bite – please explain to me the advantage someone would have with Yahoo or Google having online-casino.com over 1-online-casino.com or any other combo that includes the phrase “online casino”……
Its sure isnt type-ins…. What is it then.
And since youve become snide for some reason and think Im funny how about putting your site in your sig and backing it up. Im really interested to see how well you do in Yahoo and Google and what qualifies you to make your statement….May 7, 2004 at 2:32 am #648939
vladcizsolMemberPlay nice guys…
Classics, DVS is one of the best SEO affiliates on the planet and has the rankings to prove it in the most hotly contested keywords there are in online gambling.
From a practical standpoint he’s extremely successful, he’s not a theorist he’s the real deal.
DVS Classics generally chooses not to reveal his site(s) but does have excellent insight into SEO matters.
Have a good weekend guys and stay cool.

InactiveI’ll ignore the snide comment as I don’t see where that came from, but…
Both Yahoo and Google (to different degrees) favor “exact match” and keyword density in URL (and page title too, but less so). poker.com and poker-online-put-hyphens-in.com do not start on a level playing field, to say the least. Exact match is certainly not everything, but again it is one thing that matters somewhat.
If you don’t agree, fine.
