InactiveMarinersFan and Fergie,
How many domains do you own?
April 28, 2004 at 2:29 am #648501Anonymous
InactiveI own over 500 myself.
But I’m not doing much with most of them.

GuestHow much traffic are you getting at online-casino.com?

InactiveWith only a few exceptions domain names themselves are generally worthless, but this one is interesting. The basic principal is the site ranking first in free search results doesn’t need a “brand” of any other kind, and this one has the algorithmically best domain name there is for the topic. But that alone isn’t enough, as is obvious from its current nowheresville ranking. The domain has serious legacy issues as it was previously a doorway and now has the awful pageseeker/roar content on it that is the equivalent of “box office poison”.
Immovable object versus irresistible force — excellent algorithmic name for search engines, extremely poor previous occupants that may be responsible for longstanding poor opinion from the same search engines.
Bottom line, the domain is more valuable to people in direct proportion to their knowledge and talent. Somebody with no clue likely could never make it work; someone who knows what they are doing could give it a good run, probably (assuming it doesn’t have any actual penalties associated with it in which case it isn’t worth anything since as previously noted it can’t be branded).

InactiveUnfortunately I believe you are 3-4 years late with this domain. I think you will be lucky to get four (4) figures and very, very lucky to get five (5) – The volatility in today’s market is too great to substantiate the FIRM asking price you have presented.
There are way too many variables that are unknown and thus your dream is not warranted – sorry, I wish you luck, but I think you’ve discovered a lemon.
I will give you $275 …

I have a domain with a dash enjoying top 1-3 spots on google
consistently so I can appreciate its appeal …however as arkyt stated … in today’s search engine game, purchasing this domain at any high price will make you a hard core gambler and not an investor.

InactiveI just turned down an offer of $55,000 cash.

InactiveThe demand must be HUGE now for good domians, since yahoo and goolge have forced some of the biggest affiliates and casinos into serious seo.

+++++++++++++++Oh, yea! I was a big fool to turn down yesterday’s offer of $55,000.
What do you think my name is, SonnyButtBoy? Or, am I the eponymous DaddyHalbucks?
Today the offer was increased to $120,000.
I am still holding out for $175,000.

InactiveThe demand is there for good domains, but certainly not for good domain names. online-casino.com is worth something. online-casino-zz.com is worth nothing.
